I do like the ITV racing vault , and hoped they would show an old Charlie Hall winner.
Great to see Wayward Lad's slick jumping style again , after a couple of blunders in his novice chases he went on to be one the finest jumpers of a fence I have ever seen.

Friend of mines parents had a share in the horse. Went to wetherby that day as a 7 year old when football had finished. Love for the sport has continued since that day!!

Couldn't get up the hill - But doddled around Kempton.
The best stayer since Arkle BHL thrashed him on his home track but he was a great horse.

...the lad was a also a great looking horse . so athletic and walked with a real swagger, almost a sexy walk if that is possible from a horse . i once told a girl in my office at a party that she had that walk wayward had . it was a real compliment but she didn't understand it and slapped me across the face !
I first heard "walks like a ta rt" from my uncle jack about 55 years ago. I wasn't sure what he meant then, but I learnt later that he wasn't often wrong.

with out doubt the best staying chaser not to win the gold cup.
"The mare is going to get up" "Ah she was game as a pebble" one of the best Cheltenham memories ever....
recently read a great book about BHL - apologies cant remember name but what a dream they lived - owner didn't hav a pot to piss in and even had to sign on the dole at one time whilst the sun did an "expose" on him making "thousands" yeah right

Badsworth Boy for me , still uniquely the only 3 times QM Champion , wins by 10 , 12 and 31 lengths.

To be fair he was 12/1 in a 3 runner race because BHL appeared to have him in his pocket at the time.
What other reason would there be for the winner to be 12/1, and the 4th 4/5 sixtwosix?
