great interviewing techniques by Bob Cooper - he may have well just asked the Clerk Of The Course her name and said nothing else - cos she didn't!!
Report roggrain • October 12, 2017 2:48 PM BST
He could have asked her what she thought of the trainers withdrawing runners because the word 'firm' appears or if there will be a refund of

sorts to the race goers who are now presented with 3 and 4 runner races.
Report roggrain • October 12, 2017 2:50 PM BST
All horses that have been withdrawn should be banned from ever running in the future if the word firm appears in the going description.
Report KurtCobain. • October 12, 2017 2:55 PM BST
I backed all the Skelton horses in an e/w lucky 31. Landed the first horse at 20/1. Lost the second and then rest all none runners.Sad
Report differentdrum • October 12, 2017 3:06 PM BST
Complete fiasco. A very good card has now turned into a rubbish one.

Obviously, according to those trainers the Clerk has got it badly wrong. I don't agree with over watering but clearly you need to strike the right balance.
Report Biscar Two from a mile back • October 12, 2017 3:09 PM BST
just to confirm the trainers think the ground is too quick this time ?
Report dr . atkins • October 12, 2017 3:12 PM BST
she got it very wrong some would say she's clueless
Report wondersobright • October 12, 2017 3:21 PM BST
rare for worcester to get it wrong but they certainly have today
Report CustomCut • October 12, 2017 3:24 PM BST
As far as watering goes it's damned if you do damned if you don't, but the decision to split up the bumper looks ludicrous now. Bumpers shouldn't be split up unless 2 maximum fields can be generated, especially when they have to be endured in the middle of the card.
Report LoyalHoncho • October 12, 2017 3:28 PM BST
Have 4th place laid this Shoal Bay at 1.04 to win a hundred.  Lunacy of a price.  Dame produced another that couldn't win in 21 runs.
Report wondersobright • October 12, 2017 3:29 PM BST
middle of october after a dryish spell you would think a clerk could produce ground somewhere between good (easy side) and g/s
nobody would be complaining and the fields would stand up

produce g/f for jumping & trainers don't run
Report Rider • October 12, 2017 3:32 PM BST
anyone think their going stick needs a service?
Report wondersobright • October 12, 2017 3:36 PM BST
always high 6s, low 7s rider!!

having said that going stick & ground description are a close but not direct comparison (GS measures force needed to break top surface & pull back)
Report cardenden • October 12, 2017 3:41 PM BST
65 non runners at all meetings,,,
Report cardenden • October 12, 2017 3:41 PM BST
counting irish
Report hfink • October 12, 2017 3:57 PM BST
What happened? Did the sun stay out all night and firm the ground up?
Report wondersobright • October 12, 2017 4:02 PM BST
ground is just firmer than described (good last night, good g/f places before racing, changed to g/f after race 1 & arguably firm places, apparently ground is patchy as well)
Report hfink • October 12, 2017 4:04 PM BST
Cheers Wondersobright
Report tommac • October 12, 2017 4:09 PM BST
Clerks of the course will always tell lies as regards the going as seen by the number of withdrawals on the flat races.Do they care about the punters?
Report McCoy Carp • October 12, 2017 4:10 PM BST
It's obvious trainers are making some sort of point/stand here after the BHA's initiative on non runners, effectively sticking 2 fingers up to them.
Report Rider • October 12, 2017 4:11 PM BST
according to the bha stats the average going stick reading for g/f is 8.7, at 6am the going stick reading for worcester was 6.9Crazy
Report wondersobright • October 12, 2017 4:32 PM BST
I'm not a fan of comparing an "average" for all tracks as there is great variety in the composition of the soil from track to track

but 6.9 is about normal for good ground for worcester, 8.7 would be a road if ever recorded there
Report wondersobright • October 12, 2017 4:36 PM BST
last 3 years there (before today)...57 meetings
43 starting on officially good (avg reading 6.9)
7 on officially g/f (avg reading 7.0)
7 on officially g/s (avg reading 6.7)
Report Rider • October 12, 2017 4:39 PM BST
Laugh it would probably be 6.5 when under 3 foot of water in the winter too
Report wondersobright • October 12, 2017 4:40 PM BST
Laugh
Report McCoy Carp • October 12, 2017 4:45 PM BST
Deffo more than the ground to blame for the non runners, ulterior motive at play
Report dr . atkins • October 12, 2017 5:05 PM BST
it must be bad even trending on twitter
Report thinker • October 12, 2017 5:12 PM BST
