Similar to results being amended at a later date at Portman Square. Can't go back and pay punters who benefit by the amended result OR withdraw funds from those who aren't. Result should stand.

No chance of Void.
I backed 2nd for Place.
How is this affected by this result.
By:

When: 27 Jul 17 16:02
yeah. 2nd will be given the race. No good for backers though

There is no question that it should be voided. There has to be a deterrent so that no one does it in the future even if it's likely it wasn't deliberate in this case.

even if no chance of void you'dd think for once betfair might consider paying back half of losses or something

Bookmakers can make Concessionary Payments, but Betfair never have and will not.
End of conversation.

However, for HR - "BETS ARE PLACED ON A NAMED HORSE" (BF's caps).

The named horse didn't run, and no bets were placed on the winner as its name didn't appear in the market.

So unless they settle the 2nd as winner, it's a zero-winner market and they can void it under the usual process they use for voiding any improperly-setup market

So asparagus  the owners of the real winner could lose thousands in prize money and the value of their horse which remains a maiden ?
By:
asparagus
When: 27 Jul 17 16:09
Howard, I'm talking about for betting purposes it has to be voided. Mandarin Princess did not run.
By:

When: 27 Jul 17 16:09
The post from Longbridge should make the situation clear.
By:

When: 27 Jul 17 16:14
Nothing changes for betting after weigh-in. Correct ?
By:
elise
When: 27 Jul 17 16:15
according to rules on exchange yes howard that is correct
By:
asparagus
When: 27 Jul 17 16:16
Absolutely not in this case. It's a one off situation. As Longbridge explained if you backed Mandarin Princess you did not win. If you laid, you laid Mandarin Princess not Millie's Kiss. Pretty simple.

When: 27 Jul 17 16:16
Anyone that backed the winner on here will be paid. Racing can't void the race just throw out the horse.

We'll be holding off on settlement of the 13:40 Yarmouth until an official announcement has been made by the BHA.-betfair
By:
asparagus
When: 27 Jul 17 16:19
Why should a layer have to pay out? They didn't lay Millie's Kiss.
By:
elise
When: 27 Jul 17 16:19
the race was run and weighed in, betfair settle at that point, error was discovered after that

subsequent amendments have always been ignored no matter what the reason, so for example failed drug test, makes no difference on the exchange they've always stood on result at weighed in, they would have to break their own ruling, as such i'd imagine those that currently benefit would have every right to challenge betfair on their own ruleings and history re settlements
By:

When: 27 Jul 17 16:20
if they amend they will set a precedent, so will be interesting to see how they deal with it

Big RF/c players will be upset

Fav and 2nd Fav were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
By:

When: 27 Jul 17 16:23
There is no need to "AMEND" the result. Just void all bets, win or lose. It's that simple.
By:
asparagus
When: 27 Jul 17 16:23
The irish race a few years back, betfair cancelled all in running bets. They have ignored their own rules in the past. Anyway, Longbridge has already pointed out why this one has to be voided. Bets are placed on the name of the horse. Mandarin Princess did not run.

Millie's Kiss is now a non runner for #Yarmouth at 15:15 #SISRacing

betfair were not acting on the official result in that instance, they were acting upon what they decided was a computer glitch, completely different scenario and one which many suspect left betfair holding a huge loss if it was their own bot

in this case they are going to blame the bha, it's nothing to do with betfair

like i said intersting to see what they do
