just come off the phone to RP customer services to give my comments on the new site. I find the font size of the form, weight carried e.t.c. too small and definitely smaller that the old site. There is also too much space between the individual horses on the race card, which means more scrolling up and down and all in all this means that I find it much harder for form study. Apparently I am in a minority and if I don't like it - tough - just cancel your subscription and go elsewhere. I have been a customer of the racing post in paper form since it started and an online subscribing customer since they first started charging. Am I really in a minority over my concerns?
I had a moan at RP customer services earlier in the week concerning the lack of the win only form tab thats disappeared and got this back :
Dear lordnoise,
Thank you for your query regarding the new Racing Post website.
Although the wins only tab is no longer available we are pleased to advise that horse profile pages on the new site are now equipped with 'sortable' columns. So, simply tap/click on the column header titled 'Pos.' and each run will be sorted by finishing position. This facility is also available for the remaining columns such as GNG (Going) and DIST (Distance).
We hope this information is helpful.
Kind regards, Racing Post Customer Services

Yes lordnoise, they've replace the win column, with a wins first, then seconds, then thirds, column. So really they just ignored your query.
It's a wonder they didn't direct you to the ATR site for the missing win prize money total.
That seems to be their attitude if your experience with them is any criterion.

I very much doubt if I will ever own a tablet and as long as I can get into the old website I'm happy.
I hope the brains behind this new idea monitor how many keep with the original website.

rumpus it's on the top bar menu to the left of search,
when i've looked it has horses you've deleted and doesn't always give you the horses running for definite just the entries, also you have to click on another button to get you notes up on said horse and for some reason can't delete...only good thing is it list the horse in race times descending

In anticipation of losing the old site. I've managed to get a studying routine going using the Sporting Life and ATR. All the information I need is there.
Of course it all depends on each individuals approach to studying and what they're looking for.
Needless to say I won't be subscribing to the new Racingpost site at all anymore.
So they can throw the new site and the old site with it, in the skip as far as I'm concerned.

i would never study form on my mobile either but every now and again you want to see the form when not near a computer and now you can, the site looks good to me on mobile has not drastically changed on desktop from the old version
not sure what people are talking about the prize money, you can see horses earnings on the profile page, not that its something ive ever been interested in when studying a race
dont see what the big deal is anyway if you have to go elsewhere for something specific, I have racingpost for form, sportinglife for video, pedigreequery for pedigree and google for quotes open when im studying, used to have atr as well but not much now since the new site
never going to get everything in one place but racingpost has always been the best place to study the form and I dont see that changing any time soon, if you are a memeber at rp you dont even need pedigreequery and google because they have the mares info and quotes as well, I just wouldnt pay for it just to have it in one place when the info is free in another tab, as far as im concerned if its in my browser then it is in one place

I've used the old RP for studying on a 7'' tablet no problem.
The point about the earnings is this: On the old site the win prize money is listed separately from the total win and place prize money. On the new site all prize money is lumped together as earnings.
If you divide the total win prize money by the horses number of wins, you get a figure for each horse. A class/win rating. VDW people will be very familiar with it. This is not possible without going to a lot of trouble on the new site.
Many people use methods that work around these class/win figures, or at the very least take note of them. They themselves will know how best to use these figures.

but wouldnt you deduce that from its form anyway? ie it places a lot more than it wins
most horses have not won that many races, so you could get a rough estimate quickly from looking at the earnings, again I dont see why you would need an accurate figure for that but if you feel like you really need to know that figure then do a simple division in the calc?

why do I care if a class 4 is worth 3k or 30k? its still a class 4 and that all I need to know, if a Group 1 is worth 300k or 250k what difference is it to me?

Dan has just sorted the timeform prob so chrome left sparrow, hate fiddling with puter stuff, how do I revert? Other puter is on windows7 still and is excellent with chrome. When the windows 10/chrome freezes it stops everything, can't use mozilla/IE or anything except gruss unaffected (thank god), currently uninstalled chrome and gone to mozilla but prefer chrome if possible.

My computer came with 8.1 and I upgraded to 10 so not a big problem to revert. If your computer came with 10 then I don't think you can do much about it. I changed back by using the system recovery settings.

I forgot about this thread. oneyallbeenwaiting4 if you take a grade 2 hurdle for example and the first two in the betting have each run say seven times. One has won 210k in prize money and the other has won 120k. You don't think there's a difference there?
I would strongly suspect the betting would tell you otherwise.

When looking at a horses lifetime historic form you can either use the default 'RPR' tab which gives the RPR ratings in the far right column or you can switch to the 'My Ratings' tab where your own entered rating appears in it's place with the column called 'MR'. At the moment none of my historic ratings are showing at all. Has anyone else got the same issue and know why? I am hoping data hasn't been transferred yet because the old site is still running. I really hope that's the reason Cheers in advance if anyone knows...

Big Boss 17 Feb 17 19:32 used to have card, form, breeding, trainer, jockey, odds, results, live text comms all on one page on RP Betting Site for easy one click navigation

I did, "give it a chance, please" was the answer. I'm all for change and improvement, but how can the removal of a useful resource be described as improvement?

Computer not much better. Couldn't find the simple search use this morning to find a horse result. It was easy before just to tap the name of the horse. Now it requires the date the track etc...........
It's just the way things go. Someone in the staffing always has to justify that they are intelligent and the best way to do it is to come up with the idea of changing things.
They don't take into account the age thing. As the country has a very high age census someone should realise the difficulty they are making for most pensioners. When working there was always someone who could work out how to use changes but once retired there is no such contact.
Am I really in a minority over my concerns? Definitely not.The Ipad use is realy difficult .Computer not much better. Couldn't find the simple search use this morning to find a horse result. It was easy before just to tap the name of the horse. Now it
coolkal, you are very definitely not alone. The new site is a fukking abortion. All the points you make are valid.
I already told them months ago that the new format with the lack of breeding on the racecard makes looking at bumpers and 2-y-o races a total pain in the ass - but as usual they don´t listen to what us punters think.
For a paper aimed at punters, supposedly produced by racing people, I will never understand why they can´t just upgrade (like BF) and not muck about with the layout which we are all used to, and obviously enjoy. Fukking morons!
If they continue with this shiite I´m sure they will lose even more customers to other sites - me for one.

What's the plan with the offer sparrow? Signing up and giving your debit details, then phoning up to cancel after your trial period if you don't want to carry on. It's a good offer with Cheltenham coming up.
I notice they're publishing sectionals for the AW on the ATR website now.
Just one click brings up the pace for each race in readily understandable early/mid/late mph figures. Making a comparison with other races easy.
All this stuff readily available and free! Yet all we ever do is moan. Lol.

Then an analysis of every race below the result.
You also get a going report based on the times of the race meeting. Which differs startlingly sometimes from the official going reported in the results.
