For a horse that had fallen in its previous races, the winner never missed a beat today and ultimately the good jumping just meant those behind couldn't get to it. I backed the second, and in hindsight I guess it could have been closer, but they did look to go hard up front.

Apparently Ardea was not 100% today and wont run again until they are happy with it, so in hind sight it was a cracking run.

Was given a poor tactical ride, the stayer in the race should have closer earlier.

The horse had been below par all day, ( not himself) but they still decided to run it... I dont think that will happen again.

The best horse won and he'd beat him every time he met him at those terms.
Classic pointing men syndrome , when fav is beat, its either jockey error or the horse wasnt right. Its never that they picked the wrong one. The jockey gave it every chance as well, it was within 4 lengths at the 5th last and never ever was the lead unasailable |

The horse did underperform, and the tactics were wrong, he was not unlucky, just given the wrong ride must have been 10-15 lengths off the pace against suspect non-stayers?

Its ridden like that every day it runs, what way did you think it was going to be ridden ?

Here is the video from the third last - https://goo.gl/tw4A19 , rider not heavy with the whip? obviously believing he can pick it up(over-belief) stumbles on landing second last(probably cost a length and half, and again last fence another length or so cost? but this video does not show the easy ride it was given early and the amount of ground a stout stayer was given to make up.I take nothing off the winner, nor do I wish to ridicule the jockey, I have seen much worse.

I really don't know where anyone would get the idea that 1st time poster is a bit of a stalker/obsessed with koi, logs on today and the only thread he posts on is this one and then logs off.
On a note of this race, although it does seem the winner went off pretty quick and the second may have been too far back I think the jock on the winner deserves some credit. He gave the horse a nice breather coming around the turn before the 4th last and then went on again. |

anymore examples of connections of a saturday fav coming out post race saying we new it wasnt right was off colour all day but we ran it anyway,ffs

I still think the horse ran his race yesterday, if he proves to be much better than that in the future then fair play.

I take the point but maybe they underestimated the winner or over rated their own horse? Aren't most connections gutted when they have a strong favourite that doesn't win? Not really knocking Ardea, he is a likeable horse and clearly very good in point to point terms. I think he will win another hunter chase on the form he showed last year and on yesterdays form as well. But I wonder if they are clutching at straws to a degree.

Wonderful Charm isn't even a veteran. He is nine! I think Nicholls has a policy now of getting good horses qualified once they get a bit sour or high in the handicap by simply not running them for a year or two when there isn't anything wrong with them just so they can make the qualifying requirement of not winning too much prize money. But if that is the rule, can you really blame him for doing his best for his owners?
