What koi has failed to grasp is that the NH veterans who spend the last two years of their career in this game are still better than what the ptp field has to offer. He will always tip an improving pointer to beat these old warriors but nowadays there is not much coming through, bar the Wincanton winner on Thursday. Where his weakness lies is trying to beat the NH horses who do not incur any penalties and consequently carry the minimum weight. I believe that Galway Jack was the rightful winner.

Am not in any way knocking the bet but I disgree with the criticism of the ride. Ardea is normally held up and the leaders in the Hunter were setting a faster pace than was set in the Towton earlier on the card where better horses finished knackered. I think Joe Wright wasn't to blame and just got beaten by a better horse at the weights. I didn't back Galway Jack but I thought he won on merit.

Barton, it has been held up and raced up with them in points, but thought today it was far too far back, especially in that ground.

Ok, in view of how hard the leaders went will have to agree to disagree. I think if the horse had been as good as the winner he had a perfect set up. He is generally held up nowadays, isn't he. Haven't seen the last two points but taken the running notes in the formbook at face value he has been held up (fair play if that's wrong) and was dropped out for both his Hunter wins. I took it as read he would be held up today.
