Have to say its a lively start to a new life, they even got Luke to look respectable , I'll be coming back for more , it was bright and breezy and focused on racing with some nostalgia into the bargain.

I don't get what the fixation on flat racing is about at this time of the year. It let down an otherwise fine show. A bit more race analysis and a little less talking to golfers would be my mild preference, but in terms of opening up to a wider audience, why not? 6/10 for me, likely to improve.

everyone is in cheltenham build up mode, itv in royal ascot mode.

the only downside to nick luck was he was a bit posh, oli bell even posher ,so wont appeal to ordinary punter.

facts, it is a magazine programme selling racing, it was a fine start and very enjoyable.

there are plenty of places online to study all the racing race by race in detail before placing a bet.

Very little as far as I could tell.  Surprising, would have thought the Vets Chase Series, easily explained and understood, is an ideal vehicle for ITV to put across the cuddly side of racing and "broaden the appeal" etc etc etc.  Ed seemed pumped about it, maybe they'll do better in the afternoon.

disagree,
the show should of opened with yorkhills win in the tolworth last year - then showing what yorkhill did 9 weeks later at cheltenham, there was no narrative, great show if you like horses and stables but nothing to do with todays racing

I thought it was ok. Nice touch of Oli Bell to get his teeth done like a horse's teeth as well. Thumbs up all round.

A good effort i enjoyed it , Luke Harvey has put the fun back into it.

Whats going on with Oli Bells teeth i know he is presenting a horsey programme but he didnt have to morph into one.

I have just finished watching The Opening Show.

After being left so disappointed with ITV Racing's launch show last week I was almost dreading watching this.
But what a nice surprise. I thought it was excellent!

Oli, Tom and Luke did a great job in the studio. All the other bits were very good too ( although I still don't think we need the weather girl).

Matt Chapman came across well this morning. I really don't know what happened to him on New Years Day Crazy

I'm liking Ed Chamberlin now, too. I had never seen him until last week and wasn't impressed. I will blame that on the awful weather. I hope it is better for them today. That outside podium still doesn't look very inviting.

So well done, everybody. I'm really looking forward to this afternoon's racing on ITV4 Happy

Not a bad show though this was helped by Bell and Harvey not being the annoying type of presenters. Not saying Harvey does loads of homework or anything, just that he chugs along without getting under your skin, sort of in the Richard Pitman mould. Would have liked Timeform Jim to have been retained and a few others to have been dispensed of. However, looking long term it's already too late to turn around the fading overall profile of the sport as no matter how many so called record attendances are achieved, it's all about whether these racegoers bet on horses when they are back home.

Had recorded it earlier and just watched it. It was fine, I thought.

The absence of Mick Fitz was a plus. Unfortunately, he is on later. The sooner Tom Scu gives up the riding and becomes their jockey expert the better. He's a natural in front of the camera.

Enjoyed it, very positive start Id say. In the end C4 were getting too bogged down with the usual format, and knowing they had to be doing something a bit different but never quite getting it right. Needed a fresh approach and I think ITV have made a great start.

It was excellent compared to the New Tears Day afn output, reckon Oily, Luke and Matt were told to rein themselves in a bit and it showed, miles better. Agree Tom Scu was the best talking guest of the moment which was helpful and Victoria fine at Andrew Baldings, behind the scenes is great telly always.

Thought it was very good - but what the hell are ITV playing at?

First week and it is stuck out on ITV 4 so the main channel can show Kindergarten Cop???

If you are trying to build a following, promote it for at least the first few weeks and hammer the fact that in future it may be on ITV4 - but not for the first show.

We are all racing / sports people so MOST knew that it was coming and coverage would be spread around. What chance would your average person have of discovering it stuck out there?

Setting aside the content for a moment how is moving the racing to an obscure channel broadcast in standard definition progress?
I understand that ITV4 is available in HD on sky but to us on freeview HD it isn't an HD channel.

Terrific stuff this morning for all involved on that show, interesting, humour, and good content and mixture of presenters, Luke and Olie and Ed will be great, Tom probably got a big future if he stops riding, matt always a top bloke.Cool
