wow , a fairly wicked thread ...but can i just balance it all up ? off the top of my head a short list of racing people i have met ( who would have not known me from adam ) who were really nice ; henry cecil, tom taaffe, peter easterby , brian ellison, clare balding , paul carberry, andrew thornton, jim culotty...list of footballers would be a lot shorter for sure !

I e-mailed the Pipes once with criticism over a ride given by an over zealous jockey once and Martin phoned me up and was as nice as pie to me...never got the bloody calender he promised though

Rudest racing person I can remember was one of the Rothschild family, resenting being approached by a peasant interviewer after a winner. Quite horrible.

I hate the phoney sentiment expressed when a successful horse is killed or injured in action. Hundreds of horses die each year but no mention of them if they are below average ability. In most cases a fallen horse becomes known as "the loose horse". Horses are just the tools of the trade.

Scumbags caught cheating, who have wormed their way back into the sport we love as if nothing has happened. Been treating punters like fools for years and got caught. Loads similar no doubt, but to have the front to return with a smarmy smile, makes me fume. |

The course photographer at Brighton once caught me in another jaw dropping moment and my wife with pursed lips when my selection was nosed out on the line after looking a sure winner. He showed me it and asked if I minded if he used it in an exhibition. He later took a very good smiley one of us and sent us prints.
