Good performance, really good, Cue Card nowhere near his best though.

I don't think even if Cue Card was at his best,he would not of got any where near Thistlecrack

Joking apart his s.p is laughable......I mean i am a big fan of the horse but he would not have a clue how to get himself out of trouble over a fence......And yes i have layed him for plenty.

I though Cue Card ran his usual Kempton race.  Mixed it with Thistlecrack far too early probably made it touch for him but still hung on for 2nd from dual winner Silviniaco Conti.

Hell of a performance from Thistlecrack who does look the real deal now, jumping has been fantastic at Newbury and Kempton.  Has the scope and bravery to jump outside the wings like all the greats.

Cue Car is better suited by Cheltenham but hard to see him get pass Thistlecrack.  Hard to see anything beat Thistlecrack if jumps like that in the Gold Cup. Coneygree, Don Cossack, Djakadam, Valseur Lido have it all to do even if they make it to track.

Cue Card was never going well enough to win.

That wasn't his form. Sadly it looks like he's gone back after last seasons efforts.

Thistlecrack will always make other horses look inferior. He has the engine and ability of like no other horse.

Never liked Kempton and the ground was too lively today. Testament to his courage he found a way last year, after many dodgy jumps.

Yes Thistle impressive, but what figure are we putting on it?

Thistlecrack the real deal no doubt but Cue Card should have been up beside him from the start. Personally thought the horse that got the most aggressive ride won, but then again last year the horse that got the most aggressive got chinned on the line by Cue Card. The latter is almost an 11yo and has been a fair servant. He's lost nothing in defeat and as others have said, probably ran his usual Kempton race.

If I had to pick a Gold Cup winner, it'd be Thistlecrack but I certainly wouldn't back him at a shade above evens. I'll avail of the opportunity to see him again in January. I think there are still doubts, he put in a few terrific leaps but was novicey at others and he got the run of the race bar a brief period when Cue Card moved up. Maybe the Gold Cup field will be small anyway but he'll face stiffer opposition in March.

King George VI Chase time 5m 53.50s (fast by 0.50s), Kauto Star Novices Chase 5m 54.20s (slow by 0.20s).  Given Might Bite was lengths clear in the novices when falling at the last it looks like Thistlecrack put up a similar performance to what Might Bite would have achieved (3lb weight difference). Rating around 175 I reckon.

Thistlecrack ..will be 9 on  ..  1st of January .. late start at grade ones .. interesting to watch his progress .. now .. goes well for T S.  .  Main thing was letting the horses challenge each other .. made the sport miles better for a change ..well done to all concerned ..
P.B. might be a contender come CHELTS FOR THE RIDE .. ??
