I backed My Name Is Rio in the Theakston Lightfoot handicap at Thirsk on Aug 26 under his ideal conditions - soft ground and 6 furlongs. He had run 3rd in a similar race (0-90) at Musselburgh on ground a tad firmer than he likes. Seamster was  a nk behind and won next time out and the race was the fastest of the day (adjusted for class). MNIR returned a RPR of 96. So you would expect My Name Is Rio to at least match that 96 on softer ground, right?

My Name is Rio finished 15th of 16 returning a RPR of 52. Michael Dodds trains and he also ran another horse in the race, Ocean Sheridan, which won. OS returned an RPR of 91 in winning compared with an 83 the time before and a 74 the time before that.

My Name is Rio then ran in the Ayr Silver Cup, finishing 7th, beating 18 other horses returning a RPR of 93.

This is not acceptable.

Followed this horse for ages. Wants some cut but not too much apparently. Good to soft would be pretty much perfect.

Not sure he wants soft -- also seems to go well fresh. I'd wonder if there isn't a physical explanation.
