Yes in my opinion (slightly biased as I backed him). Looked to be travelling really well before he fell and was moving into contention with the leaders. With all due respect to the winner, he's surely different class and would have stayed the trip easily in that field.

Impossible to say at the point the horse fell - certainly going well enough & might have simply ran away from the field but would he have stayed on as the extra 2 furlongs is a long way & I still have doubts - unfortunate that we didn't get the chance to find out yesterday but at least horse & jockey not badly hurt

no [dont spoil it for Laura!]
Report Andrew in Sweden September 11, 2016 11:37 AM BST
Delta, in part I agree. If Idaho wasn't going to win, then i'm happy that Laura and her team won their first classic, although I very much doubt she read my posts Wink

Yes, using Housesofparliament as a guide and all things being equal but well done to Harbour Law and connections.
Report 1st time poster September 11, 2016 12:00 PM BST
he was 8 to 11 pre race because of stamina doubts and was probably the same price when he fell nothing was proven either way, but the way the winner stayed on you,d have had to say he,d have needed to stay every yard
Report 1st time poster September 11, 2016 12:01 PM BST
if you new idaho was going to fall pre race ,the gosden horse would have been 8 to 11 and beaten out of sight, not withstanding pulled to hard etc
Report Reynard September 11, 2016 12:21 PM BST
Bit like asking if Devon Loch would have won ....... it didn't and we will never really know .
And yes , I did have moey running on it cos I thought it should have been 1/3 Shocked

Looked a good thing before the race and almost certainly would have won. He's in a different league to Houses of Parliament. Obviously we'll never know for sure but everything about him and how the race panned out said he'd win.
Report Vubiant September 11, 2016 12:26 PM BST
No doubt in my mind Idaho would've won. He was moving forward easily into contention, about two lengths ahead of the winner, when the inexplicable happened. C'est la vie.
Report kavvie September 11, 2016 12:29 PM BST
diff league to houses of parliament?that a very loose statement...he got it hard to get by him over 1m4  so based on that if he wasnt an out and out stayer its hard to tell   ?
Report knot in wood September 11, 2016 12:31 PM BST
would have won 5l+.
Report Tallywagger. September 11, 2016 12:32 PM BST
Would have won easily imo. The second fav was never going to get home from an early stage. The eventual second/third got into a battle too far out which meant the race fell into the winners lap. I think Idaho would have stalked the second/third and gone by them very easily. Would anyone make Harbour Law favourite over Idaho in a race over the same trip? I doubt it.
Report howard September 11, 2016 12:38 PM BST
Harzand should have run in the Leger.
Report impossible123 September 11, 2016 12:51 PM BST
AOB lost the Leger by running their only 100% stayer like a 'scalded cat' at the off (used as a pacesetter), and no wonder he was a spent force 3f out but still managed to finish 5th; the 2nd 'fav' was a spent force too going like the clappers at the off..
Report 1st time poster September 11, 2016 2:03 PM BST
at the point of his fall he was no more a winner than 24 hrs earlier, yet according to those on here we,re talking about a 5,s on shot who,d have hosed on yet has an uneasy 8 to 11 shot with some ev available in the morning, only extra evidence we have regards him staying was that it was a strong gallop, which in normal race gossip would have lessoned his chances of stayin
Report asparagus September 11, 2016 3:13 PM BST
He'd settled well and was cruising along. The front 3 finished in a heap including Houses of Parliament whom Idaho beat easily even though nowhere near 100% fit in the Voltigeur. He would almost certainly have won.
Report Sir Epicure Mammon September 11, 2016 4:07 PM BST
Idaho was in a real state pre- race. He was awash with sweat when he came into the pre parade ring. Shaving foam between his legs so thick it was falling off in dollops. Sweating heavily on his neck and behind his joints.Looked dreadful. Was also expending plenty of energy. He was dried down before leaving the pre parade ring but was awash with sweat again at the stalls. His condition was clearly noticed by connections of other runners in the pre parade ring : plenty of head shaking and wry smiles. There was no chance of him winning. He'd have dropped away before the final furlong if he'd stood up.
Report asparagus September 11, 2016 4:20 PM BST
Idaho always sweats up before his races. It hasn't stopped him running very well in his previous races so absolutely nothing to suggest it would have done yesterday.
Report santa concerto September 11, 2016 4:23 PM BST

well there are plenty of idiots out there. some muppet tried to tell me even song was thought of as a better filly at ballydoyle than minding. I said whoever told you that must believe in father Christmas as well
Report EastLower Gooner September 11, 2016 4:47 PM BST
He was going very well right in behind the leaders when Seamie made the decision not to wait and to switch him out for a challenge when he stumbled and unseated....unfortunate.

think he would've cruised into 4 or 5 length lead so just a question whether his stamina would've held up vs Harbour Law.
Report 1st time poster September 11, 2016 4:53 PM BST
needs a leap of faith to think any pbrien horse would have swept int o a 5L lead in any race this weekend cue order of st george 10,s on
Report knot in wood September 11, 2016 4:55 PM BST
been a bigger worry if he didn't sweat up,always gets into a state before his races.

done and dusted now well done to winning connections.
Report Barton Bank September 11, 2016 4:59 PM BST
I think he would have pissed up. Not that that will matter to connections of the winner!
