rob , I guess I am only speaking from my own experience when I joined betfair .

I would say the answer to most of your points is that it is something you learn as you go along .

I would doubt anyone started betting and knew all of your points within a few weeks .

Agreed on that.  I suppose I'm trying to see it from the perspective of someone who doesn't watch races and has no race reading ability (not too hard for me!).

If people are betting on their PC, at home, with the race on the TV next to them, I can see how someone might spot what they think is a big price on a horse a few furlongs out and then back accordingly, and how this might then develop into an interest in being a winner in the in running market.  I just can't see any of my mates making the same step.  They're like Lottery players, who just do it because there's the chance of a big win.  The £2 is expendable and it might kop a win of £60 to then píss up the wall on a weekend.  They expect to lose, don't want to have to think about it, and like the fact that when they get lucky they can gloat on Facebook etc.

No, just a straight punter, pablo.

I'm still five figures in the red (or near to it) on horse racing over the account's lifetime, I think.

I see, I just thought your perspective on horse racing ( you said that you don't bet in-running yesterday I think ) that you weren't a straight bettor  .

as long as you are on the lower side of 5 figures , it's not that bad considering how long you have been here .

your game is football right ?

Well in that case Roida I retract my misconstrued comment and will say no more on my guesses on the subject...save 'em the call. Peace.Love

I'd confidently say that 17/20 track players couldn't price an event up.

My most profitable sport is golf, pablo.  Football gives me a steady if not spectacular income.  Racing is still a work in progress; I've done okay in recent times, but still not confident enough to count on it.  Don't really have the time to bet on other sports, as I've massively scaled down my hours over the last few years.

I only really bet on horses , I bet on golf for a little interest when watching it  .

good luck

did you back day ?

The first thing Betfair should do is remove the 1 second bet delay, then we can be sure that Betfair's bots have no advantage. The 1 second delay is not long enough to protect those with delayed pictures from being hoovered and only provides a further hindrance when trying to back at the price on the screen with the ever decreasing liquidity.

did you back day ?

I did, but mainly as a cover bet.  Also backed Jimmy Walker Laugh .  Total profit from this event might buy a round, which I'm reasonably happy with given some of my bets.

Good luck to you too.

I think that I understand what you're trying to say.  Are you a long term winner on here?

That just boils down to a question of whether 3.0 is a value price at the time. Comparing it with the price before the off has little to do with it.

most will be unmatched won't they as you're always needing the horse to be out-running it's odds in-running ...isn't the trick to be reading the race so you can offer higher odds to get more bets matched and consistently collect....or am I mis-reading what you are doing?
