The distance he won by suggests so the style he won in didnt

Will probably set off like a scalded cat and burn out after 3 furlongs finishing tailed off lastExcited

With Rob Havlin being the jockey I would expect a nice introductory ride. The usual quotes / comments from connections post race that the horse will improve when stepped up in distance etc., etc.,

Of course it could be that connections feel that it is important for the first Frankel offspring to run should win on debut. If that is the plan they have the right trainer to ensure success.

There's a couple of Zebedees in there that could spoil the partyExcited

Still remember somehow sneaking into a betting shop as a 14 year old in 1976 because I was desperate to back a colt called Etienne Gerard, being the first offspring of Brigadier Gerard to race.

Also remember the dumbfounded mortification on his name not appearing in the first three in the results.

And unlike Frankel the Brigadier was a proper thoroughbred, who raced over 12f.

Ed Dunlop stuck Ryan up on a fto winner in global applause and now has him up on Oceanus plus ya have rab and a nice introductory type ride so nice race to watch

I like Queally for a sympathetic ride which he gave to Frankel on debut.
Then he goes from the sublime to the ridiculous rides he gave Frankel in the Guineas and St James Palace . Fortunately Frankels class saw him thro

think he would also like a bitter ground.
Report sageform May 13, 2016 1:23 PM BST
Johnny, I agree that just because this is the first Frankel to run (and might easily be the worst), it is no reason to back him but although Brig Gerard was a great racehorse, he didn't come from such a purple pedigree as Frankel did. Cunco was an early foal, not very big apparently and trainer was keen to dampen enthusiasm.

Ouch! Isomer looked home and dry until that arrived on the scene and I didn't lay off which I usually do.

Someone must of whispered in his ear theres a randy mare at the finishing line for you! whoooooosh! he was first there with that length
Report De_man May 13, 2016 2:09 PM BST
i really got the value 2/1 :(
Report sageform May 13, 2016 2:09 PM BST
First 2 might be decent as they were not the quickest away, particularly Isomer, and Andrew Balding 2yo's usually improve a lot for a run.
Report De_man May 13, 2016 2:10 PM BST
had saver on wrong one , they knew the 2nd was decent too one to follow also
Report ladycarla May 13, 2016 2:13 PM BST
Took 7/4 got paid out 7/2 nice and very impressive to say how green it were, be 1/4 next time thoughLaugh
Report screaming from beneaththewaves May 13, 2016 2:13 PM BST
Didn't Balding have a first-time-out 2yo winner yesterday?  Maybe he's changed tactics.
Report De_man May 13, 2016 2:19 PM BST
usually better for a run alright bumped into for sure thou
Report sageform May 13, 2016 2:20 PM BST
screaming, that is Andrew's third 2yo winner but that doesn't stop that improving a lot for a run so they might be well above average. Bohemian Flame looks Ascot material.
Report sageform May 13, 2016 2:20 PM BST
Sorry, it didn't win did it! Wishful thinking.
Report screaming from beneaththewaves May 13, 2016 2:27 PM BST
Fair enough. But for years even the good ones have been slowly into stride and making late hdwy into 8th on their debuts, instead of sweeping past the leader like B Flame did yesterday at Salisbury. Maybe Balding's hit on the idea that teaching them to race and win first time out is a better education than finishing in the middle of the pack under, er, considerate handling.

Foaled on Sir Henrys Cecil birthday Grin
Report sageform May 13, 2016 3:36 PM BST
He has had first timers in the past. Passing Glance was one notable example. I backed it every time it ran after that and showed a big profit.
Report stroodle May 13, 2016 4:52 PM BST
Anyone got a link to the race, missed posts for race so was not aware of Frankel colt running.
Report trance May 13, 2016 4:54 PM BST
its so inbred I'm surprised Peter Griffin hasn't adopted him.
