With Rob Havlin being the jockey I would expect a nice introductory ride. The usual quotes / comments from connections post race that the horse will improve when stepped up in distance etc., etc.,

Of course it could be that connections feel that it is important for the first Frankel offspring to run should win on debut. If that is the plan they have the right trainer to ensure success.

Still remember somehow sneaking into a betting shop as a 14 year old in 1976 because I was desperate to back a colt called Etienne Gerard, being the first offspring of Brigadier Gerard to race.

Also remember the dumbfounded mortification on his name not appearing in the first three in the results.

And unlike Frankel the Brigadier was a proper thoroughbred, who raced over 12f.

Ed Dunlop stuck Ryan up on a fto winner in global applause and now has him up on Oceanus plus ya have rab and a nice introductory type ride so nice race to watch

Johnny, I agree that just because this is the first Frankel to run (and might easily be the worst), it is no reason to back him but although Brig Gerard was a great racehorse, he didn't come from such a purple pedigree as Frankel did. Cunco was an early foal, not very big apparently and trainer was keen to dampen enthusiasm.

Hard to fathom Tom at times exceptional i recall on b c ' s when the sheckles were down thou ;)

First 2 might be decent as they were not the quickest away, particularly Isomer, and Andrew Balding 2yo's usually improve a lot for a run.

had saver on wrong one , they knew the 2nd was decent too one to follow also

Took 7/4 got paid out 7/2 nice and very impressive to say how green it were, be 1/4 next time though

Didn't Balding have a first-time-out 2yo winner yesterday?  Maybe he's changed tactics.

screaming, that is Andrew's third 2yo winner but that doesn't stop that improving a lot for a run so they might be well above average. Bohemian Flame looks Ascot material.

Fair enough. But for years even the good ones have been slowly into stride and making late hdwy into 8th on their debuts, instead of sweeping past the leader like B Flame did yesterday at Salisbury. Maybe Balding's hit on the idea that teaching them to race and win first time out is a better education than finishing in the middle of the pack under, er, considerate handling.
