Any stories that you have experienced or heard that would put me off profitable in-shop gambling would be much appreciated.

Have you heard of any bad experiences of in-shop punters being denied their winnings? Maybe because they had been restricted before in a different shop?

Even though the trader took the bet they are told that "it should not have been accepted" and it is voided?

Asking for proof of identity in the shop when you are clearly over the legal age?

Do we get royalties (or even paid) for doing your research into how to not bet profitably? Anyone would think he'll use the info for a boring blog or suchlike.....

Why/How did they accept a bet 41 secs late in the first place......To me it looks like they can't lose, if they take bets they wont pay out on, and are very unlikely to refund.

a no lose situation for these bandits.I could name of one large company that encourages staff to do this (accept after off) in the hope a loser not picked up.

If the horse had lost and the punter took his ticket back, would the EPOS system still say void?

If so - you must be cleaning up Whoops

Only kidding but it does lean itself to "temptation"

I'm not referring to a case in particular, I just included 3 hypothetical examples to get the ball rolling. Never have happened me or heard of them but hearing of something like this would make me (and others too i assume) think twice about continuing to bet in shop.

If a late bet being voided is the worst experience anybody has had then I most certainly will not be put off betting in shops.

Many staff had "the tack" for racking around the bins and cashing in the voids

Couple of years ago I backed a horse in a Bet Fr*d shop, £20 told cashier to take the 2/1 she checked the screen and put 2/1 on my slip, the horse won I went to the counter for my money and was paid out at 7/4, I told her that she had checked the price at 2/1 and put it on my slip but she said she could only pay me what the epos was saying. she said the  price changed after she had wrote the price on my slip but before she had put bet through. Told I could stand their all day, but that was all they could pay me £55. Don't bet in any of there shops now.

about 5 years ago, I was in a Ladcrooks shop. wanted £12.00 on a horse. Took a tenner out my pocket and put it on the counter, was looking around in my pockets for the £2.00, in the meantime the cashier had taken the £10.00 from the top counter and put it into their drawer... I couldnt find £2.00 so then handed over £20.00... she then gives me £8.00 change... so i'm there thinking wheres the first £10.00 gone?... she says "you didn't give me £10.00"

Spoke to the guy who was there and he said he'll look into it and come back later after cashing up. went back later and he said their float was correct. told him i wanted to see the CCTV footage of me placing my bet... told to come back later again.. went in next day and he said the CCTV footage was 'inconclusive' and he offered me a free £10.00 bet.. i said i'd like to see the footage myself and he said i can't do that i'm afraid... I said its not about the £10.00 but the priniple of the thing, he said 'i totally understand'

Told him where to put his £10.00 free bet and never bet there again.

I did look worse for wear on the day this happened, i'd just lost an old friend, think the woman thought i was to out of it to realize i'd allready put the £10.00 down in the first place... she couldnt look me in the eye...

Vermin company.

How can anybody expect to be paid out when they place a bet 41 seconds after the off? Crazy

If I'm 2/3 seconds late I always ask them to check "If it's on".

On a different issue Kerrow returned at 9-2 yesterday at Wincanton. On the off 8-1 was freely available with all bookies with win only books...about half of the ring. This is an absolute disgrace.
