Donald McCains are running dreadful with a few years, and so are Gearoid Costelloes. Every training outfit goes through a slump from time to time, but its the ability to shake off these bugs that set the better ones apart from the ordinary ones.

Cannot understand this trainer, for example: AURILLAC : Has ran in a 2m at Chepstow when well beaten and runs today in a 2m 3f hurdle at Chepstow, yet has an entry in the 3m novice hurdle at Cheltenham! The question is: 1. Is she running them to get fit? 2. Running them to get beat? 3. Does not know what she is doing? I've noticed before that she seems to run them regularly over the wrong distance.

The Tehran Cowboy negatively flags up a trainer and then she has a winner.
Any chance of writing off Hull City winning the FA Cup please, just so as I can lump on?

I met her a couple of years ago and is she is quite taking actually.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/racing/article-2592458/Dont-call-woman-trainer-Grand-National-hopeful-Rebecca-Curtis-says-gender-not-important-career.htmlHopefully her star will shi
Been away for the day. The point I was making is that here you have a trainer who actually ADVERTISES the fact that the horse is not a 2 miler ( entry over 3m at Cheltenham ). I found that unusual. Yes, they all run them over inadequate distances but they don't tell us in advance. My apologies for not explaining it initially, however I assumed it would have been abundantly clear.

See horse won over 2m 3f yesterday. Didn't see race but I would assume it stayed better than the rest of them? Would still wait to back it over 3m. As for Curtis stable I have no opinions.

Yesterday on Ch4 Paul mentioned some of his stable runners have been effected by this virus going around England like most the other stables.

The thing is even horses like Best Mate started in 2m bumpers and then only went at 2m to begin with in his first hurdle race.
If you look at some of the past Cheltenham Champion Bumper winners too, they include the likes of Florida Pearl, Wither or Which and Cue Card and I would imagine all of them ran over shorter trips in their early hurdle races, compared to what ultimately were their ideal trips later on.
As far as I'm aware there aren't any races longer than 2m-ish for bumpers and so it's maybe a bit unfair to criticise any trainer who then steps their horse up to 2m+ as soon as they can with a hurdler making its debut for them. The bumpers are obviously meant to give young and/or inexperienced horses the feel for racing and since 2m is generally the trip for bumpers (other than junior ones) then that's all the can use.
Even if those horses that on breeding or whatever seem to need a longer trip, it's maybe asking a bit much for a horse never to have jumped a hurdle in public to go straight from 2m bumpers to 3m hurdles in one step, even if there were any suitable 3m hurdle races for such inexperienced jumpers.
