Recently there have been quite a few cases that have come before the BHA,these enquiries and their results have been suppressed so as not to tarnish further the horse racing industry.
If you scrutinise the disqualified persons page of the BHA website, you will see that 3 persons have been excluded indefinitely this year: 8th Jan 2016: .... Benjamin Hockley 8th Jan 2016: .... Sue Bye 27th Jan 2016: ... Peter Standley I don't recall reading anything regarding these 3 in the racing press, if you have please enlighten me. Incidentally, Hockley & Bye occupied the same house in Royston and another name appears on the electoral role ... Mark Benton. Not implying anything untoward about Mr. Benton, but would he be the same person who is an owner with horses at Jim Best's yard? There are a number of "faces", jockeys and trainers who have mysteriously disappeared from the racing fraternity in the past few years ... were they "Quietly" Warned Off? .... What happened to the 2 Indian gentlemen in the Midlands, who reportedly had trainers and jockeys in their pocket? ....taking "The Micky" .. ![]() ![]() Has also happened in Ireland ... Turf Club Ireland have "excluded" a number of trainers and owners, without any publicity. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Turf Club Ireland have "excluded" a number of trainers
any examples of this please Kennyboy:-) lots of owners turned away because they don't pay their bills, forfeit list in calender and all..trainers quietly brushed aside..dubious.. |

Dodgy Dog,
Look no further than the little community of Letterkenny in Co. Donegal .... it is a hotbed of intrigue and skulduggery. See if you can identify the trainer who sources horses for BC in Germany, then look up his brother who used to hold a trainer's licence, same family as the Irish jockey who rides in UK. At one time was a regular plunderer of UK races with plot horses. Another trainer who came close, was nearly found out at Wolverhampton a few years ago, reportedly in possession of a "stunner". He refused to be searched by racecourse security and left before the planks(stewards) could interview him. The horse was withdrawn and now races for an "English" trainer .... ![]() ....won a race recently. Then there was the "Royal Ascot" furore with the now retired jockey who trains in Ireland. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

By:
Harley is the trainer..cant see trainers going quietly into the night and warned off on the quiet..makes no sense..maybe they go broke, can happen:-)
By:
Has Paul John packed in riding altogether?
By:
It's all done on the "QT" ... just a word to say, yer man will not get his licence renewed, so it is!
There are a number of jockeys riding at the moment "with a cloud" over them, their weight is rising and they are finding it difficult to ride ... told that they will not receive favourable attention when and if they apply for a trainers's licence. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Kenny - Mark Benton owns Echo Brava
Is he the Actor Mark Benton does anyone know (Nationwide adverts etc etc). |
By:
How was Sir AP to know Best might be "duke"?
![]() |
By:
Not the same Mark Benton ....
This bentone has horses with Best, Luke Dace, Gary Moore .... etc. ... previously John Gallagher Can anyone name the trainer, in the Midlands, that you claim a horse of his from a seller or claiming race at your peril? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks like John is going to say he was told to stop them and Best is panicking. Should be fun. |

Come on, let's credit ihal essex with a great bit of fishing with Ruby Wednesday, trained by J R Best of Sittingbourne.

he's gone then if thats the case...

What ever happened between Best and Mattie? all seemed to be working out pretty much o.k with regards to all the previous non jiggers.
Did Mattie want a new car out of the deal? Jim wouldnt have been happy with that if he could be virtually guaranteed to get to the races on each occassion ![]() As Sergeant says should be interesting. |

I'd still like to be a fly on the wall!!!! Here is what I posted last night
"mmmalushka - I agree, but it does seem very quick to "come to court" if that is what they've got. In fact, I would guess that that would be the only way they would have him under A30 UNLESS of course Paul John, when re-interviewed refuted Best's claimed instructions. Now that would be fun as this is not a court of law and is bound only by the balance of probabilities. I'd like to be a fly on the wall". |

I was there that day screaming. The long faces were a sight to behold!
By:
Oh dear what a pity never mind
By:
Yes that just about sums up what the ferret faced Best seemed to be thinking.
By:
Good info Kenny, now tell us the midlands trainer? Could it be the man never seen without a can of lager in his hand?

Firstly it is great to see some action being potentially taken against some seriously nasty people who have brought shame on racing. For me there are other sad elements involved here. Why have ATR given this scumbag operation years of oxygen to peddle there excuses? Everyone is innocent until proven guilty but with this lot and plenty of others ATR has no shame, first time offenders, serial offenders are all welcomed back to the gravy train of shame.
The channel has no integrity, live racing is their claim, what a joke. A raft of hopeless presenters with little knowledge with a few exceptions and a willingness to sleep with the devil never far off the agenda. |
By:
It would be nice for someone who matters to see this thread and get a feeling for the strength of feeling against this scum bag from genuine racing fans.
By:
He's getting pretty heavy handed treatment for a couple of not offs in novice hurdles so I think the BHA obviously want him out as much as the next man.
By:
If Jim did get banned can the brother just swap it to his name ? :(
By:
TheFear - it is not heavy-handed because it will not be that which is causing him to also be charged under Rule A30!!
(A)30 - Prejudicial to the integrity, proper conduct or good reputation of horseracing. Entry Level £2,000 or Suspend / Withdraw / Disqualify 3 months. Range Fine £1,000 - £15,000, Disqualification 1 month - 3 years It will be something more "serious" |
By:
Meant to add that among other things Sloppy Scully (quoted in the original post) got the maximum penalty for offence A30 wrong as the max disqualification is 3 YEARS not 3 months. I note Scargill is handling the story now, so things are getting a little more accurate.

Don't think it is the sons who throw their weight about, both are only about 10 stone wringing wet ... it is the father Leon who rules the roost.
Has allegedly been involved in numerous scrapes, arguments and scuffles over the years with local trainers and landowners. Made sure the RP retracted allegations of threats back in January 2010....... http://www.carter-ruck.com/images/uploads/documents/RacingPostApology.pdf So what usually happens in these situations is a "nominee" trainer takes over the reins until the suspension and fuss dies down. But remember with the "Class" conscious hierarchy at the BHA, they will come down like a ton of bricks on the everyday trainer, who struggles to make it pay .... and the likes of Chemical Nicky & Co (The Establishment) get a rap on the knuckles and are free to carry on regardless. Answers to previous questions ... Conor Dore Gurdip "Mickey" Singh (currently serving 7 years for money laundering & fraud, but still pulling strings from inside, has an unlimited account with a gentleman bookmaker) Tejhider Bhoot ... (owner on paper of Tyrana who won when nearly a stone out of the h/cap at Stratford), formerly trained by "Bridgie's" brother Gary. They were one of the first to be excluded without a hearing: http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2011/sep/12/bha-exclusion-orders-no-hearing When you start to dig, some familiar names keep appearing ..... ![]() ![]() Still think I would be the best candidate for the current vacancy at BHA for a "Compliance Officer" ... but then again perhaps I know too much and would be extremely dangerous. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I see, thanks again blackbarn.

By:
The polite thing to do when you get done for a non-trier is to stand by your jockey. Best took the cowardly option and is now reaping the consequences.
By:
will the winners in this case be the punters??
By:
Always blame the jockey, One Nation? No point both getting in trouble. He pushed his luck doing it a second time straight after being done for the first one. For what it's worth I think Venetia and Coleman had a couple of handicapping runs at Warwick today.
By:
Couple of things. If a footballer was being investigated for throwing a game would he still be allowed to play while under investigation? Secondly the supposed instructions given to the jockey are exactly what happens, ie purposely run into hurdles to slow it down. Yet there are people on here and elsewhere who refuse to believe a jockey would do that and have in the past belittled people who have suggested it does happen. Maybe they'll cop on to themselves now.
By:
Does the fact he let the same jockey ride a second non trier almost immediately after blaming him for the first one not weaken his defence?
It should if logic has any bearing on the outcome. |
