The quality of these "guessing" guests it getting worse, todays at Musselburgh can't get his words out, can't review a race and is poor standard. The one in the studio yesterday who done Ayr was simply reading and quoting the Racing Post.
Every month there is a new one, how do they get this gig???
Yesterday was John somebody - always on mute at schloss carstairs so I've never caught his surname.
The ideal expert is one that's credible enough to help liquidity, but not accurate enough to ruin value.

it'll never happen of course but it would be nice if one of the channels employed a 'paddock only' expert in the way NYRA does with Maggie Wolfendale. Quite apart from it being something useful for a change (which we know is deprecated) then for no other reason than to get away from the formulaic spiel.

Boyce on ATR trying to be knowledgeable.waving his hands about for emphasis, with his sidekick Mabel Simontop, doing to death a low grade handicap on the a.w. takes some beating for utter tosh. They can only see the blee--- obvious, which in low grade racing is invariably wrong. It would be good bto hear one of them say to the other "I totally disagree with that!",but it won't happen. I can't decide who is the bigger bore,Mabel,or Jamie (must be paid by the word) Lynch.

Astonishing that guessers like Lynch and Chapman apparently make a good living from punditry, both are obsessed with self promotion, and, in Bullethead's case, Responsible Racing has really plumbed the depths in allowing this Cartoon Racing jester airtime to highlight the perils of punting! Laughable, but sad! Think Paddy's must be scared of retrospective action, which ironically should it come to pass, could benefit out-of-control loon punter Matt more than most!

Other than just being no good, the other problem is overkill.
Why do ITV and RTE need four bods on podiums? There is something badly wrong if Geraghty can provide something that Walsh can't, and vice-versa.

The standard seems to of slipped since Irish racing moved over. Most of the racing day has back to back racing on, which leads to a basic look at each race due to time constraints.
I barely see Nick Luck or Lydia Hislop on it nowadays, or Jonathon Neason(spelling).
Sky sports racing seem to have plenty of time to fill but say nothing of note, instead cutting to that awful intro music every few mins.
