min 2% a runner up to 3% a runner, no wonder the punters get in for nothing at Towcester. Its no better than a dogtrack.

160% AT MOST DOG TRACKS AND BIGGER YET THEY HAVE TO PAY BOOKMAKERS TO STAND ON SOME OF THEM????????????????????????????????????????

Last race at Chelmsford tonight.
WINNER: Gentlemen 5/2 FAV BSP: 5.33 (65%) !!!! On a favourite. No wonder the general public losing faith |

Today at Towcester was unusual to be fair. Having stood in the driving rain and gales for the best part of an hour I joined the rest of the tatts bookmakers (bar the 3 who stuck it out) and left before the first. Normally the ring at Towcester is ferocious and anyone who can't better the exchanges on a fancied runner is not looking very hard.

Simply will not attend any racecourse where I cannot access online betting.
This is 2016 - you cannot hold back progress - it up to you the bookmakers to adopt or die - 'twas ever thus. |

By:
Half a dozen objectors , won't be missed, thousands of increased attendances don't care, they obviously like instant cash betting

I agree with the OP, factmachine and Swardean.
I'd go further: get rid of all internet on racetracks. If jockeys, trainers, owners, bookies, punters/arbers need it, let them leave the track and do their business. Obviously, this will never come to be: some tracks still have signs saying "no mobiles" etc. Nobody takes any notice. Anyway, the whole thing is a charade. I was at Wolver on wednesday. After a bit of pointless paddock-watching, I came back in to go to the bookies. On the way, I noted that the race was already priced up on tv screens near the shop- bookie. These prices even included price changes. When I travelled the few yards to the course bookies, I found that none had priced up yet. One or two were displaying prices from away meetings, otherwise, all boards were black. A nice chance to make some belated New Year greetings. Imo, anybody who believes in RSP etc is a mug. The whole shooting match is a stitch up involving the exchanges and the big shop bookies and probably the overseas syndicates too. Imo, PP rule at many tracks. Some course bookies arb with them. Btw, I didn't notice many IR players. Years ago there were plenty. From what I could see, most used virtual screens to watch the races - "live feed", I guess. Cyber technology seems essential to the modern racing business. That's a shame in my old eyes. It ain't made the game any better. We are just a few steps away from full-on cartoon racing. ![]() |

The question to the OP is this
Is it equally fair to allow Books to on course wi fi and not the paying public....Answer is Yes or No |
|
By:
i wished it was the 80s without wi fi the world was a much safer place.
|
|
By:
Night fly no, ban bookies from using it, yes 14 years ago I said if punters have it bookies should, the ring would be stronger without it
|
|
By:
If the bookmakers were stopped from using the internet ,would this encourage new faces to join the bookmaking ranks. Also could the current bookmakers be trusted not to have people at home on telephone giving them internet prices.
|
|
By:
Fair enough BD , except excuse my doubtful view that in a non wi fi racecourse we would suddenly revert to a thriving and competitive bookie environment.
If that did start to happen then ok...but im not convinced |
|
By:
What percentage of the present bookmakers would disappear if no internet connection. Also how many oncourse bookmakers could priceup a race.

No wi if I'd a joke, punters should be allowed to search for value, having visited the Cheltenham festival for 10 years seeing how some bookmakers take Mick in the centuar, but I suppose if people don't wanna look around then that's there stupid fault

I was in a betting shop placing my triple odds one winner Lucky 15,s guaranteed prices when a roar came up from a couple of old timers in the plastic seats...
"Look at that dog race each dog is priced at 7/2" in a six runner race...!! If the alleged bookmakers had not killed the game before that every single punter in every shop in the World should have walked out after seeing that that.. |
