The Stewards held an enquiry following an objection from the Clerk of the Scales to STATE OF THE UNION (IRE), placed second, ridden by Kieren Fox, on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 8st 11lb having weighed out at 9st 0lb. They interviewed the rider, Lee Carter, the trainer, and the Clerk of the Scales. Having heard their evidence the Stewards were unable to establish the explanation for the weight difference and therefore found the rider and trainer in breach of Rule (B)67.4.4. They suspended the rider for 2 days as follows: Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 January 2016, and fined the trainer £500. They disqualified STATE OF THE UNION (IRE), placing ELUSIVITY (IRE), second, DILGURA, third, DOMINIUM (USA), fourth, RENOUNCE (IRE), fifth and MULTITASK, sixth.
