What on earth was he doing
Report ThunderRoad December 6, 2015 2:08 PM GMT
Got it wayyyyy wrong, but tbf the horse has won by doing that in the past.
Report Poppydog. December 6, 2015 2:09 PM GMT
But the horse has a WINNING history of leading, getting caught
and then pulling out a bit more in the closing stages
Report sageform December 6, 2015 2:09 PM GMT
Very disappointed and surprised at the tactics. He has been ridden from behind recently and that seemed to suit him. I can't understand why Harry Skelton doesn't get more outside rides as he is surely among the top 10 jockeys now.

never seen him sprinting over the first 3 before though

Richard Johnson is the worst front running jockey that I have seen. He cannot judge pace from the front. I love laying his short priced front runners.
Report Dr Crippen December 6, 2015 2:14 PM GMT
He's never won a race of this class by tearing off in front.

There's a difference between leading and what he did here.
Report Aladdin Sane December 6, 2015 2:15 PM GMT
If the race had been staged 3000 miles away and the jockey was not from these shores there may just be a bit of criticism from the pundits. As it took place at Huntingdon and there's a chance of bumping into the jockey, not much chance of anything negative being said.

careful very quick, roids will be on in a minute asking to see yer lay bets tar .....
Report Dr Crippen December 6, 2015 2:17 PM GMT
In fact apart from his last win where he led, I can't see where the horse has won by making the running.
Report duffy December 6, 2015 2:19 PM GMT
If there's one thing to take from the race from Johnson's point of view it would be to take a couple of those fully committed asking of the horse at his fences and adopt that more often when you're coming down to the last in other races and need to ask the horse up rather than just sitting there and not helping the horse.
