The ride on Newtons Law really takes some beating, absolutely incredible. Will the stewards do anything? Of course not.

Looks for all intensive purposes that the horse was ridden to achieve best possible position notwithstanding external factors

The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of NEWTON’S LAW (IRE), ridden by TM and trained by BM, which was held up in rear and ran on in the closing stages to finish seventh, beaten 4 lengths. They interviewed the rider and the trainer’s representative. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities. The rider stated that his instructions were to drop in and not to hustle the gelding as it has a history of breaking blood vessels. He stated that he was squeezing the gelding along and it was going as fast as it could. He added that he did not hit NEWTON’S LAW as the gelding had resented the whip on its previous outing at Lingfield. The representative stated that she was happy with the ride but felt that the gelding may be suited by a step up in trip, as it appeared to be getting outpaced in the early stages and running on towards the end of the race. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted their explanations.

December 2. Just wondering how many other rides Mellish has flagged up this year? Is it a case of one is better than nothing?

Did anyone else burst out laughing when he said that he had thought for a long time that the Stewards were not implementing the rules correctly?

I'm getting sick and tired of this cr@p.  It's not every day, we're nudging into every flipping race territory.

Catterick today was a joke.  The Juvenile Hurdle, the Begs Chase, we could go on.  One particular Northern yard seems to pull every other horse it runs.

**** race clashes, bet restrictions, small fields blah blah blah...the number one turn off for punters, in my very humble, is throwing money at horses that aren't trying.  We'll take anything else this sport throws at us but that is inexcusable.  I don't really bet A/W so couldn't give a toss, but this Jumps season has been the worst for a long time imo.
