Hoping for a change of luck later on as i've picked my Poor Duke! This was one of the mysteries of the summer for me when Poor Duke bolted up by 9 lengths from Venutius at Leicester, how could this donkey win by so far from a horse that has won 3 out of his next 4 races, last 2 in a class higher! That was a mighty weird race with 2 front runners in Hickster and World Record(trying to break one) storming off at breakneck speed. Both unsuprisingly were well btn, but a few horses behind came out and won afterwards. Thought Poor Duke had a good chance of following up nto here from 11lbs higher but couldn't get in a blow behind Idol Deputy (who has won another 3 times over C/D since now 13lbs higher, The Dukkerer 2nd and Kodiac Lady 3rd both won afterwards and the 4th Ometesando has won 4 races since now 19lbs higher! So it maybe that Poor Duke didn't run as poorly as first thought. Poor Duke has had a few runs since under Miss Mulineaux and Lewis Stones and interestingly wore all sorts of headgear that he doesn't seem to appreciate! Winning jockey Raul Da Silva takes over again today and the hoods, eyeshields, blinkers and blindfolds have been dispensed with, after a quiet spell the trainer has had a couple of jump winners recently typically at 50/1 and 40/1. Poor Duke is a dual C/D winner and hope the rogue can prove his thrashing of Venutius wasn't a flash in the pan!
