Didn't touch the race, obviously great interest when the champion hurdler makes his seasonal bow and you want to see it, but just don't understand the mentality of a punter wanting to bet a 1/5 shot on its 1st run of season.

bankit 15 Nov 15 15:19 Didn't expect faugheen to win easy in this race thought its class would show At the business end, but if you bet this horse at 1/5 on 1st run of season do yourself a favour and stop punting,

You don't need to be a brain surgeon to work out why not to back a horse first time out at 1/5 ffs. Unless you have inside knowledge, you have absolutely zero idea if the horse is fit,how horse has been working etc etc.

TRD fcuk rite off you t1t..this game is all about prices...either 1/5 was value if so its a bet..if 1/5 is bad value you lay it...you have zero opinion hence no bet.

1/5 shot is either good value and a bet or poor value and a lay. With that simplistic outlook Roida it's no wonder you go skint. I put HP sauce on things more intelligent than you. Go for a nice lie down, and we will await the next ramblings from the Trigger of the Forum, with anticipation.

Hunty You are a failed pre race punter, you buy money because you do not have the skill or the knowledge to make it pay any other way. Stick to what you are good at,leave the proper stuff to the people that know the game.

When you look at any betting opportunity Roida, you don't have to back or lay. The third option is simply to watch and have no financial involvement. The first lesson you learn as a punter, is that you shouldn't bet in every race. A lesson you have obviously still to learn. Have a think about it when you have finished your colouring in .

Mullins and co wont have gone home skint. Filled the frame taking all the dough, knew what was going to happen prior to race, and considering the volume of money shovelled on a horse they knew full well was unfit, they may just have returned home with their wheelbarrows brim full. Plenty of money just waiting to be taken. It must be great to be in a no lose situation.

beaten fair and square...so do we think the Mullins camp was 'trying for its life'Why would you sit in behind a strong front runner with quality form and potential still in the locker..If you had win at all costs today..Why would you ride it like that?..The horse won The Neptune as a novice..It does NOT have speed to burn like a ferrari. It has an immensely powerful unrelenting stride and 'kills them off' by stepping this front running style about 2f to go. To me they were just pissing around today to see whether they could ride him different.and if didnt work..its a nice prize for someone else.at a nice price also trained by WM. Check out Rubys interview after.Almost embarrassed (if thats possible)..Like Henderson last week with Bobsworth. They were using this race as a find out mission and it didnt come off er or did it? Not withstanding exceptional improvement by his challengers..I would be amazed if anything gets close Faugheen in the C H..Oh if of course they ride it from the front and power on through the race...i would suggest that is just possible and 15/8 will look like gold dust

If it was the horses last run before the CH I'd be worried but its mid November, chill out take the 7/4 , 15/8 and wait for March. The run will surely do him the world of good.
No such excuses next time out though.

All these posts and not one mention of his head carriage when Ruby went for him or how heavy handed Walsh was to try and get the win. Race will have left a mark as last thing you do is smash one up if they aren't 100%. That's when injuries happen & they remember the hard rides. Be a watching brief nto and I do hope we see a much improved display.

some interesting stuff on this thread from gutfeeling and nightfly particularly how much do trainers and jockeys know before the race? if gutfeeling is correct then Faugheen was a trier; if nightfly is correct, then maybe not so much, the stable were playing a bit fast and loose.
and what about the SP? 1/5? I wouldn't have been surprised at 1/7 or even 1/8. For a stonewall certainty, a 20% return is not bad at all.

Watch him jump 2 out Swift when Ruby has asked him, Hit the ground a bit flat in behind and the horses head is upright on landing, Be a textbook time for him to twinge a back muscle and from then on Ruby knew he was on a loser hence he got very busy. Too busy imo for a first run if as many suggest the horse wasn't fit enough.
Although I remember Skelton commenting he'd never tacked up a horse so fat when getting him ready at Ascot last season on debut for the Mullins camp so it's not like he doesn't carry a lot of condition into his first runs yet still win well enough based on his last 2 seasons debut starts.

do you really want us to pull out ,copy and paste etc a post that says the reigning champ and short priced fav will win next march,do you want us to also put up the 1000,s of threads between here and march that says the ch hur fav will win, might see if the queen can strike you a medal or name a rose after you, i suppose mullins had the 1st and 3rd running for their lifes yesterday, one things for certain if a similar race is run again next month you wouldnt be saying faugheen was value at 1 to 5,would you risk 5 grand to win 1 to back up your fitness and paddock comments,no ones that confident about paddock picks

fcuking hell i asked if 1/5 was value...no where did i advise a bet or say i'd backed it...im on 40% pc so do you braindead dc's think im gona take 40% less than 1/6?
Lads, that race yesterday was not a trial for the champion hurdle. That's 4 months away still. Who knows what will happen down the road but yesterday's race was a target, in itself, for the 3 Mullins horses and the best horse on the day was the winner.

Zip you have made a few points but I'll address 2 and give you a chance to knock this one out of the park showing us all that we have you pegged wrong as many seem to think you a bit of a fool so with my help you can reverse that with a concise & coherent post outlining the thinking behind your comments earlier.
Firstly you said it was odd they never went from the front saying it's never headed when ran like this suggesting you think if this tactic was employed he'd have possibly won, Then said horse was unfit according to your man on the course.
Here's the part where you get to shine like a star as I'm bowling underarm here.
If the horse was unfit how would front running have changed the result against a clearly fitter rival ?
Don't let us down son.

Backwind . . . by going from the front it would get the backwind up the straight first thus win the race.
Next question please

I wasn't expressing a opinion just asking you to clarify yours. Seems I took the middle stump out the turf with consummate ease. March has no bearing on how you've judged this weekends race. Be good.

I used to lay all races with odds on favourites in them using a lay the field approach for a fixed liability. It's very nearly a winner and for someone who is on 2% commission, a definite winner. The point with lay the field for fixed liability at BFSP is that you reduce your overall liability on the race and, if the favourite is odds-on, every other horse in the race is a winner at varying degrees. Unfortunately I'm not on 2% so I gave it up.
A form expert may be capable of judging which races to steer clear (i.e. where the fav is going to win) but this type of selective approach is dubious imo.
