The average pocket money given to a child is either £6.50 or £5.75 a week, depending on whether you believe the kids or their parents.

Two rival surveys issued this week offer a glimpse inside the piggybanks of the nation's youngsters, revealing what they do with their cash, which regions are home to the most, and least, generous parents … and whether kids think they get the right amount.

The Halifax survey, which came up with the £6.50 figure, was based on interviews with 1,296 children aged between eight and 15, while Aviva, behind the £5.75 figure, quizzed 1,496 parents. Here are some of the findings:

Interesting one STATS.
There are I imagine a lot of people who have Betfair accounts who don't really know how to read form. How many look at the forum I have no idea but there are probably some. I learnt how to do it because I was quite a bright teenager who for a few years was OBSESSED by racing. I'm not as good as I was but it's like riding a bicycle. I just hope threads like this encourage people to go and look at races themselves and not follow anybody blind ( especially me ).

I think it's difficult myself to come up with a maximum of 2 selections each day and show a profit over time.

The idea of this thread was to see if anyone was able to achieve it over a 1 month period, and then continue month-on-month

That has very nearly been achieved by 1 regular poster on this thread.

It would have been interesting to see the prices of selections and, whether any "chasing" appears to have been going on.

The problem being now is, people are reluctant to join in and there are a few that have disappeared.

This maybe because they don't want their P/L made public, even though it may not be a true reflection of their ability.

Or

They see it as a pointless exercise.

Myself, I don't care.

I'll keep it going until the end of this month and, if there's hardly any interest, as seems the case, I'll let this drop.
