George have seen ATR start their AW competition tomorrow and was wondering if you will be running a competition on the forum and if so when will it start.
posy, I've decided to take a season off from the relentlessness, having done the last few, but good luck to anyone who wants to run it and take part in it.

Very sorry to hear that.Whilst I only 'discovered' the competition last year ,it was great fun. I'd be hopeless at running it so hope someone else might run with it.

You could always reduce the fixtures? If you did one meeting a week it could be more enjoyable?
I played a couple of years ago but having to put up selections for two or three meetings some days was a bit much, especially when you knew you wouldn't even be having a bet on any of them.

I'm sure the comp will still run cuz I think Bigsmiffy for one, who took it over from richardf, will see to that.
Regarding numbers, I think it did drop last season with even some dropping out who I considered stalwarts of the comp, so maybe as sk suggests, a new format is needed.

When it first started it was 1 meeting a day with some days off due to a less meetings throughout the winter. The odd day when there were 2 meetings , just 1 meeting was picked. Last year most days seem to have 2 meetings and now and again there was 3 meetings in a day. Personally this ended up far too many and is probably why numbers reduced.

Here's the deal - I'm going to run it but only doing one meeting a day, whichever one looks the most competitive, and we'll include Sundays too as there aren't many of them when there's an AW meeting on.
And as a brucey bonus, Betfair are kindly going to put up some prize money for the November & December monthly comps.
A thread will be up in due course with full details, comp starts November 9th.

I'm happy to commit to scoring one meeting a day, though it will probably be after its finished rather than IR, unless we're fortunate enough to have stridingedge or MegRyan to help out again.

I was one of those who dropped out as a result of the sheer relentlessness of it all but I think one meeting a day is much more manageable.
On deciding which meeting to select if there is more than one could be quite subjective. For instance, is a three runner race with each horse forecast at 15/8 more competitive than a fourteen runner race with a forecast evens jolly? I suspect the most objective and practical basis for deciding which meeting should be selected is simply number of horses declared.

People have indicated on another thread as well that just doing the one meeting / day is going to be a lot more preferable.
As for which meeting to select, hopefully it's going to be fairly straightforward, but I'll have a look at the number of runners and the betting forecasts, then make a decision. If it's a close call between an evening and afternoon meeting, then I may opt for the meeting that can be scored IR if we have a scorer with a preference for afternoon or evening.
