(C) Pershad, Parrott & Loughran 2010 (Oh no, it isn't, it's just another bog-standard Class 4 handicap). |

When a bookmaker says "we got the favourite beat" like they had something to do with it.

my favourite one is the old "anything he does over hurdles is a bonus"
trainer speak for the longer we can keep getting paid to train this dog the better |

"always trying"
yes MJ, just sometimes harder than others |

"He's done it the hard way from the front" - usually referring to some horse thats been able to set his own fractions with his rivsls conceding him a headstart.
|
|
By:
yes, it's probably true that it's not 'doing it the hard way' from the front, although having no cover is a small disadvantage this is negated by the pace-dictating factor, and you can't find trouble in running from the front. Whenever you follow in-running markets the horse in the lead almost always shortens, further proof that leading all the way is never a bad tactic

"Knows the time of day".Do they wear a watch?!
"Knows how to get one ready".Yes,that is why they hold a licence to train. "Likes to have a winner here".Would have thought a winner anywhere is wanted. "Always ready to do the job".Well that is what owners pay the trainer to do. "Doesn't like to go home empty handed".The owner paid for the long journey. |

Rock Of Gibraltar was another one I backed for the 2,000gns @ 20/1 just beat the fav from the same stable lots of people unhappy because the fav had been well backed ante post.
The reason was because I liked the way it won at Doncaster as a 2 year old. I got a good price from laddies because they were told it was not going to run. Think the sp was about 9/1 ? |

A favourite is weak in the market. A morning favourite might drift a bit or even a lot but if it still starts favourite then surely it is still the most heavily backed horse in the race?
