Hi, A friend had a bet on Sunday which won, lost his slip & went in to fill in the forms in order to collect - the return was between 200-300.

Cut a long story short, the bet was collected earlier in another shop, close to the pub that he was drinking in. The lady said as far as ladbrokes are concerned that's that - there is nothing they can do.

Does anybody know if there is anyway he can challenge this? or whether the person collecting has committed any crime? So it could maybe be a police matter?

would say it was theft, would get them to check the cctv they will have the time it was paid out and go to the police. might not do much good but at least it will let him know who collected it and you just never know

youll be lucky to find a ladcrookes employee that can be a***d to sift through cctv,if he left it on the counter it might even be a member of staff that collected it.

xmoneyx... the problem is though there is nothing to stop anyone from giving there receipt to a friend to collect in another shop then going back to the original shop and saying they have lost there slip. he has to hope that someone recognises who the guy was and maybe he is known by the police

True. But the crime is the person falsely claiming vs the winning punter who lost his slip. Laddies now have theoretically nothing to do with the crime now, other than the police would have to request their CCTV.

I lost my wallet about 12 years ago, thankfully no credit/debit cards or cash in there.  They collected 2 slips, 1 Fred and 1 koral. Six months later I got a statement from Boots Advantage Card showing a zero balance so they had cashed that too the scumbags.

Laddies are right.....its now a police matter. File a report and they should go to Laddies for the cctv. Their system can pin-point exact time bet was paid and will get a mug shot of the person who got it paid out.......be prepared however because almost every case of this type I dealt with it ended up being a mate or family member who has taken advantage

freerolling is on to someting - think back who you told about the win ... other than that its like stealing cash, and indeed finding it ... it used to be an occupation at racecourses to go through screwed up bet slips to look for a winner no matter how small.

its theft, same as finding a bag full of cash and keeping it,contact the police, get a mugshot and visit the bar beside the betting shop, chances are they will be in,or bar staff will know them, thats if the plod take it seriously

clown? idiot? you don't know the guy! We have all lost something one time or another, but I'll leave you lonely guys to enhance your existence by criticising those that you don't know.

For those that have helped - much appreciated. I've given him the info you guys have passed on and will let you know if he bothers going to the police etc.

happened to me about 10 years ago, was thursday of the grand national meeting, was drinking in a pub was a bookies shop virtually opposite, the pub was showing the racing, so was having a few bets and watching the racing back in the pub having a pint.

Backed a winner couldnt find the slip just thought left on table in the pub and table been cleared, filled out all the forms in bookies, went to collect next day told it already been collected, the cashier let slip a nickname of who drawn it, it stuck in his mind as it was out of line with his usual bets, asked around and found who this person with that nickname, he completley denied it, the bookmakers didnt want to know.

never lost another ticket thou.

just a thought ,without knowing the serial number whatever which denotes what shop on a slip,if such a thing excists ,how would the so called thief no he was going to a different shop, could have been going to the same shop where the winner was a well known regualer punter and the staff were waiting to say well done ,sounds like a tall story to me,you lose a slip in a pub next to a stranger who no,s the racing results, etc, nah i,m not aving it

maybe , but there were certainly plenty sifting through bins , checking the floor in the bars etc when the winner got disqualified in the leger.
plenty claimed winnings on bets that they didn't place

Call their customer services department or better, contact them on Twitter. They will pay as long as it's not too much (£500 max and not a filthy ew bet or back price) If you can prove you're a regular punter they will do it as long as it's not happened before. Very minimum they will credit it to your account as a free bet.
