The "Blackbook" is NOT a FORM BOOK - in the strictest sense.

It is Timeform's INDIVIDUAL thumbnail appraisal of each horse's overall, perceived, ability.

It is not a 'work through' factual FORM BOOK of ALL Race RESULTS - it is just Timeform's own opinion.

onlooker is right of course.
I used to keep the results pull-out from the Racing up to Date Weekly but tbh in the digital age there are better bets than anything printed      Sad

I wouldn't bother, form means nothing.

The longer you keep a book the more it is out of form especially over the jumps.

I understood all the form books had been burned especially the flat ones. What with jockeys getting boxed in in small fields, coming slowly out of the stalls and giving the leaders in slowly run races ridiculous leads amongst other things.

The only thing you should take from a race is the winner, and on occasions one sometimes two, of the placed horses along with the class of the race.

Everything else is bullshine.

I did make the mistake of buying a formbook last yr for the flat is was as big
and heavy as an Encyclopedia Britannica and the pages where so thin it was virtually
unusable..Waste of money when your on the T'internet..

They started making them that size just over a decade ago Bm. I agree that they became unwieldy and tbh after having a run of them for 25 years or so I stopped buying them. I think you can get most of it off the internet. I have a few from the 60s which I hang on to because as far as I know that info has not been digitalised.
