Armed Forces Act 2006 makes wearing any military decoration, badge, wound stripe or emblem without authority a criminal offence. It is also illegal to wear a replica "as to be calculated to deceive", and to falsely represent yourself as someone entitled to wear any such award.

@Darlo - wasn't some sad case nicked under that legislation a few years back?  I seem to recall he'd taken to appearing at Remembrance Sunday claiming to be Special Forces and wearing campaign medals for wards so far apart in time as to be impossible to believe?

>That's kind of how I found it. I don't know if he was done, but I remember somebody wearing some medals at a service, probably Remembrance Day, and being spotted in photos or on Facebook.
