The new protocols in detail

If riders consider there may be a problem they should inform the stipendiary stewards as soon as possible, who will then inform the clerk of the course.

Riders should ride past the obstacle(s) that they have concerns over on the way to the start.

If riders still have concerns when arriving at the start, they should inform the starter who will radio the stipendiary stewards.

The stipendiary stewards will then liaise with the clerk of the course to consider alternatives to removing obstacle(s).

If obstacle(s) have to be removed an announcement will be made.

If there are further races remaining on the card then the process above should be repeated for each race.

So exactly the same as we have now, wait until the race is due to start then pfaff around and doll off the obstacles?

They can always put up lights and copy Wolverhampton. That appears to be the way things are heading anyway.

The clerk of the course will then liaise with Baldrick to see if he has any cunning plans.

They could always try these:

and then they will send folk out to stand at the wrong fence with the wrong flags and after they mess everything up they will ban the jockeys for ignoring the flags.

It is amazing how it took 400 years for the sun to suddenly appear at jump meetings.

let's face it, the sun doesn't bother horses as much as it bothers jockeys.

the old timers would have ridden through anything (usually with a hangover) and wouldn't have thought twice about it.
now the current crop of riders are afraid of their own shadows and go looking for stuff to complain about.

WTF?

The options are jump or bypass it, what can the "alternatives" be?
