I posted on here about a month ago about my account being looked at by this amateur mob in Gibraltar called 888. They have held back £3500 since 3rd June on an account that has been open and losing for about 4 years. However in the last 6 months I have turned it around and now they want to investigate,......and for 3.5 months with no end in sight.

I have sent them the latest letter (see below) to see whether it has been resolved but I have very little confidence in that happening with them being based in Gibraltar and appear untouchable.

"We are now 3 and a half months since you stole my money and as promised social networks are aware of your underhanded dealings. And it came as no surprise to find that quite a few others have suffered similar situations with your amateur outfit.

Please tell me how much longer your farce of an investigation into my account will take before you finally pay me the £3500 that you have stolen as you have everything you have asked for (all notarised by a solicitor at a cost of £70) and have had for about 6 weeks.

If you are not finished with the investigation, tell me what you are looking for and how much longer this nonsense will take"

Has anyone else had problems with these morons and if not let this be a lesson to anyone thinking about using them

gib has a small claims procedure.  OP just needs to send them an email with a deadline to give him his money or he will start court proceedings and they will be liable for the costs of this.  He should copy in the UK Gambling Commission and the GRA.

Report HowTheMightyFall September 21, 2015 4:19 PM BST
on another note, how on earth did you manage to take 3.5k from them? i can hardly get a bean on with 888...
Report dave1357 September 21, 2015 4:21 PM BST
A big problem with uk regulation is that it doesn't mean the company is in the UK.  "888 UK Limited" could be a Gibraltar company and its address appears to be "601-701 Europort
GIBRALTAR GX11 1AA"
Report urchin September 21, 2015 4:32 PM BST
I got it on because it had been a losing account for the best part of 3.5 years and then u can get what u want on. But turn it around at your peril

paul haigh usually takes a keen interest in this sort of thing urchin.
Report flukes September 21, 2015 7:21 PM BST
Urchin, you should message Paul Haigh - Total Respect on here to see if he will assist you in taking this forward. He deals with this sort of case so may be  able to advise you at the very least. Also, 888 Holdings is a listed company operating on the UK stock exchange so I would contact their Chief Executive (see 888 Holdings website). Otherwise it may be worth taking your case to Trading Standards and asking them to investigate. Hopefully Paul Haigh will give you best advise and let us know if you get your dosh.

Had exactly the same response urchin and they should be not allowed to trade..

Marathonbet though are even worse and will lie and cheat you and make you spend money on the phone and promise you the World and still you will not get paid...

I can see why you are angry urchin, but it's best to try and remain professional.  Getting abusive in complaints is only going to decrease the chances of you getting your money.

fwiw if you deposited by credit card you could claim Section 75 and at least get your deposit back.  That would firmly put the ball back into 888's court.
Report CLYDEBANK29 September 22, 2015 10:59 AM BST
If you were successful not only does it threaten their relationship with the credit card provider, it also gives you more ammunition to attack them on social media.  Could always send your issues to Rip Off Britain and encourage others with similar complaints to do the same.
Report CLYDEBANK29 September 22, 2015 11:02 AM BST
I got my money back with Section 75 on a deposit to Bananabet back in 2002.  They went into administration shortly after.

They owed me 5 grand and i got it no problem, ive never had any problem with marathonbet either.
Report DIE LINKE September 22, 2015 11:30 AM BST
888 probably investigating how on earth you got past their bet referral software to amass £3500!
Report CLYDEBANK29 September 22, 2015 12:32 PM BST
I've never had any problems getting paid with any bookie, other than a couple of tin pot firms from 2002, and in both those cases I got my money before they went tits up.

Marathonbet  have a shop inside spurs ground on matchdays
Iwent on Sunday    Placed a win bet in cash   Then noticed a sign saying collect winnings online
I asked if shop would be open after match for me to collect winnings   Answer no
I swiftly cancelled bet  cash safely back in my pocket
Is this a way of getting people to open an account with Marathonbet?

Not sure why you would deposit with a credit card as that will affect your credit history big time by betting with those freaks..

Perhaps when you are a successful Social Housing tenant it makes no difference but if you want to get on in life keep the cheats off your credit record..

Just a thought...

I thought a section 75 was a Derby County supporter that has lost the plot...ExcitedLaugh

batman 50 they are the most rancid chancers ever..

They do not respond to emails and when you talk to an Eastern European on the phone you are assured that you will be paid..

The feccers will not pay you even though it must be cheaper than employing minimum wage people to assure you..

It does not make sense and I am biding my time before I take revenge and I am a patient person...ExcitedAngryLaugh

Threaten to report them to the UK Gambling Commission saying that you now understand from November of last year that they had agreed to be regulated by them.

In all honesty the GC probably can't or won't do much but the threat itself might be enough to worry 888.
