I posted on here about a month ago about my account being looked at by this amateur mob in Gibraltar called 888. They have held back £3500 since 3rd June on an account that has been open and losing for about 4 years. However in the last 6 months I have turned it around and now they want to investigate,......and for 3.5 months with no end in sight.

I have sent them the latest letter (see below) to see whether it has been resolved but I have very little confidence in that happening with them being based in Gibraltar and appear untouchable.

"We are now 3 and a half months since you stole my money and as promised social networks are aware of your underhanded dealings. And it came as no surprise to find that quite a few others have suffered similar situations with your amateur outfit.

Please tell me how much longer your farce of an investigation into my account will take before you finally pay me the £3500 that you have stolen as you have everything you have asked for (all notarised by a solicitor at a cost of £70) and have had for about 6 weeks.

If you are not finished with the investigation, tell me what you are looking for and how much longer this nonsense will take"

Has anyone else had problems with these morons and if not let this be a lesson to anyone thinking about using them

gib has a small claims procedure.  OP just needs to send them an email with a deadline to give him his money or he will start court proceedings and they will be liable for the costs of this.  He should copy in the UK Gambling Commission and the GRA.

on another note, how on earth did you manage to take 3.5k from them? i can hardly get a bean on with 888...

A big problem with uk regulation is that it doesn't mean the company is in the UK.  "888 UK Limited" could be a Gibraltar company and its address appears to be "601-701 Europort
GIBRALTAR GX11 1AA"

I got it on because it had been a losing account for the best part of 3.5 years and then u can get what u want on. But turn it around at your peril

Urchin, you should message Paul Haigh - Total Respect on here to see if he will assist you in taking this forward. He deals with this sort of case so may be  able to advise you at the very least. Also, 888 Holdings is a listed company operating on the UK stock exchange so I would contact their Chief Executive (see 888 Holdings website). Otherwise it may be worth taking your case to Trading Standards and asking them to investigate. Hopefully Paul Haigh will give you best advise and let us know if you get your dosh.

I can see why you are angry urchin, but it's best to try and remain professional.  Getting abusive in complaints is only going to decrease the chances of you getting your money.

fwiw if you deposited by credit card you could claim Section 75 and at least get your deposit back.  That would firmly put the ball back into 888's court.

If you were successful not only does it threaten their relationship with the credit card provider, it also gives you more ammunition to attack them on social media.  Could always send your issues to Rip Off Britain and encourage others with similar complaints to do the same.

I got my money back with Section 75 on a deposit to Bananabet back in 2002.  They went into administration shortly after.

I've never had any problems getting paid with any bookie, other than a couple of tin pot firms from 2002, and in both those cases I got my money before they went tits up.

Marathonbet  have a shop inside spurs ground on matchdays
Iwent on Sunday    Placed a win bet in cash   Then noticed a sign saying collect winnings online
I asked if shop would be open after match for me to collect winnings   Answer no
I swiftly cancelled bet  cash safely back in my pocket
Is this a way of getting people to open an account with Marathonbet?
