It's worth what genuine bidders actually bid - that is the market valuation at that particular time.
Unfortunately, many pitches are "bid up" by seller's associates in the hope of either trapping an unwary buyer or simply inflating the perceived market value should the lot be unsold.
AGT should be doing something about this - it's not rocket science and in allowing it to continue; people are losing faith in the auction process.
BTW the pitch in question is 1.01 not to reach it's reserve - AGAIN!!

I suppose the other side of the coin is when pitches are "bought" privately - only for the buyer to go back on their word - I understand the terminology is "doing a Geraghty".

this isn't a new problem ~ we do it and most do ~ allpoints was also bidding it up last time ~ need to have the good old physical auctions back once or twice a year imo

Yes the AGT have a direct debit instruction in place
i guess it's the cost & time to set one up but it would be nice if the AGT asked for opinion though
