Mister Universe reported as injured.
His philosophy in the Sun this AM "we are great believers in running horses in races for money rather than running them up and down the gallops at home for nothing"
He runs horses for "owners" who pay the bills not for punters, if I was an owner that is how I would want it.

Is he any less consistent than the other trainers who have lots runners and lots of winners such as O'Meara and Hannon?

Last 3 seasons 215,216,207 winners !!!!never dipped below 100 for the last 21 seasons for a trainer who started with 8 horses.

With training a racehorse I think every aspect of care is important, and Mark Johnston's veterinary knowledge must be valuable to him as a trainer. Martin Pipe in his early days done a lot of studying into veterinary topics, and even attended the Worcestershire College of Agriculture equine studies course. Michael Dickinson had been another licensed trainer to attend that course. So I suppose learning about the inner workings of a horse must help you in the way you train them.

Telepathic I just call it as I see it Fanning 15/53 rides finished last or 2nd last and a lot were fancied suppose you
could call that consistent.

Well if you are a qualified vet it makes things alot cheaper and easier as you dont have to pay yourself and are automatically are  issued the current list of banned substances but like bf there is a way around that so either study or copy .

The latest fix is liquid breathing and reportedly there is a way which is untraceable.
Google it.

If that is your understanding of consistency then YES. However your twisted view is not a runner in normal logic.
You like to quote figures MJ has a 25% strike rate ,last week he had 17 winners  and you were not around till runners started to under perform.
I call it as I see it and you are not worth the effort.bye

Telepathic 25 percent strike is for 2y olds this year only overall has averaged 14 percent over last 5 years on turf, which
is still not a bad win figure ratio, I just dont like the fact they hose up one week and run like a drain the next.

Unless you've been in hibernation for 20 years you'll be aware that MJ targets the meeting. You knew it would be trying, was kept in the yard by connections after a year off, and won off a higher mark.

He doesn't run his horses for the benefit of punters, he runs them for prize money and takes the view that if they're going to run at home, they may as well have a go on the track as they might earn something. As for looking a million dollars, you won't see many from there that don't, doesn't mean theyre going to nail a 11111111.Shocked BTW WTF is a "qualified vet" ? Do you get unqualified vets in some places ?

Incredible training performance to produce a career best after injury and so long off.

TiptheOdds - you are bang on and whatever injury the horse had, it evidently didn't affect his ability.

Not that hard Tiger. Johnston isn't working as a vet, but he has the qualifications to do the job.

Personally I reckon you will on average always get a decent effort from his horses

Martin Pipe was the first .

Spot on Facts

Martin brought training horses to a new level.
