Epsom 1,Sandown 2 in terms of strength in depth over the season i only consider Ascot,Doncaster,Goodwood,Haydock,Newbury,Newmarket,Sandown and York to be Grade 1 tracks on the flat and Aintree,Ascot,Cheltenham,Doncaster,Haydock,Kempton,Newbury,Sandown over the jumps. If you took the Derby meeting away the quality of racing at Epsom is on a par with Lingfield.

Newbury should be G1 for both codes - the quality of the 2 & 3 year old maidens as strong as most other venues. Never considered Chester to be in the Midlands - was on the booze there last weekend, nothing with a Midland feel about the place.
