100% correct. Nothing special about him. LIke every other jockey looks good on the best horse. Even Joseph was made a champion jockey by his dad due to riding best horses

As stated before nowhere near a Dettori or Fallon at their best. To make matters worse people were trying to compare him to Lester. U couldn't make it up -

Certainly having a poor day. Bad position Finding trouble Racing wide etc
He looks ordinary today, even poor.
But the bigger picture points to him being an excellent judge and executioner.
Many of those Ascot wins were big handicap fields, he gets the rides he deserves.

Dettori, Hughes, Pat Smullen. All in my opinion better tactically than Moore. Problem everyone has is they tend to remember Moore driving them home in tight finishes. I agree he is very hard to beat then. There are others I prefer as horsemen, but I will only draw attention from Trolls and I can do without that! We all have our favs Angel!

As has been said he's obviously very talented but the problem is(not his fault) that general standard of flat jockeys is very average at present so he stands out mire than he would if there were more very good jockeys than there are.

It gets very boring having to see this. Same old Shiite whatever sport, is messi/woods/Frankel/Federer over-rated. Moore is the best jockey around that is it.

Think that's about the first comment you have made that I disagree with Roy. Higuain, Benzema, Di Maria, even Pogba, these are truly over rated players. Messi is among the best I have ever seen, certainly the best in the world at present.

Quite simply No. His record of getting beat on fancied horses is up there with the best of all time, and he doesn't give a fick about the punter, the integrity of racing of the golden goose that has given him such a healthy bank balance. He may have set a record at Royal Ascot for the number of wins, but rides on Found, Kingfisher & Ballydoyle were poor. He now seems to believe that holding horses up out the back and giving them too much to do is standard operating procedure for him, Tactically inept, seriously over rated and unwilling to communicate sums up Ryan Moore. Buick, Doyle, De souse are in a different league to Moore

Basil. My slant on Messi is based more on players I have seen over the years that were able to do ALL that he does, and in some cases more. They never got the overpowering hero worship from commentators and media etc. I suppose I just get fed up when every time he passes a ball, some idiotic commentator screams " Oh my, that is world class". He only has to pick his nose and they gush their admiration. Of course he is a seriously good player and a danger to any opposition. I still think however that he has to be overrated. That's the fault of those I have referred to here. They seem to think that everything he does is genius. Not his fault I know. IMO he wouldn't compare with Maradona, Pele or Best. I have to also say I wouldn't have replaced Gascoigne for Messi in a team selection. I cannot disagree with the list of CERTAINLY overrated players you mention. I would add Andrea Pirlo to that list. IMO another that only has to sneeze to cause erections amongst pundits. Have a good day BB! You can tell I'm a horse racing man really!!

@EVILROYSLADE re Messi -- here is a statistical analysis of Messi's genius by an American site: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/lionel-messi-is-impossible/
Jockeys? Whitley's jockey ratings (as evangelised by James W) have Ryan Moore on 11.4, so 1.4 pounds above average, and on a par with James Doyle.

Ram.I read the article you linked. Too be honest? I really cannot stand statistical analysis on such a scale. I prefer the evidence of my own eyes, be it for breathtaking moments of skill, goals scored from impossible positions and overall entertainment value. As I said earlier, I would rather have the likes of Paul Gascoigne. Doesn't quite have the same ring as Leeeeeonel ( actually as in Richie) Messi, but nonetheless a name that is up there with the best, irrespective of all his demons. I'd like to see how Leeeonel would fare on a winter's day in the English Championship with some bulldog up his backside.

I wouldn't say no to Ryan Moore. I am not under any illusions as to his ability to win races. I just think that sometimes he rides differently. Usually when the prize money is minimal. I also think he rides to suit connections. Read into that what you will.

Sorry I didn't mean to be disrespectful to Frankie but that must have hurt him being told he won't be riding the best horse anymore by connections. I couldn't imagine that happening to Ryan.
