The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, PYROCUMULUS (IRE), ridden by Adam Kirby and trained by Tony Carroll, compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 2 June 2015 where the gelding finished fifth of ten, beaten by 6 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding had benefited from a step-up in trip. The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Adam Kirby, the rider of the winner, PYROCUMULUS (IRE), from approximately a furlong and a half out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Kirby for 2 days as follows: Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 July 2015.
