He continually find the worst place to be at the Curragh. Of all the runners he got his mount in THE worst position. He doesn't seem to learn from his many mistakes. Not even nearly the 'best jocky in the world' imo.

True...had a few nightmares at Ascot too.
I still get queasy when I think of Kingfisher who imo should have won the Gold Cup.Sad
Report basilbrush June 28, 2015 3:48 PM BST
Yep, very frustrating indeed, as were some of his rides at Ascot. Still among the very best around at the moment along with a rejuvenated Dettori, and Smullen when at his best...just goes to show how bad the rest of the jockeys are when these three are at the top of the tree at present.
Report SIR_Bond June 28, 2015 3:53 PM BST
had a shocker yesterday too
Report basilbrush June 28, 2015 4:03 PM BST
At present I would prefer Smullen/Dettori, but Moore is getting all the plum rides on the best horses, that much was evident at Royal Ascot, Moore is still losing on too many that should be winning to be considered a great or anything like.

Yes the jock that held him in the poor position Moore got himself in finished last. The definition of madness "to repeat do the same thing and expect different results"
Report 1st time poster June 28, 2015 4:39 PM BST
as an onlooker,on a horse dropping back in trip shouldnt he have been up with pace not coming from behind, thats 2 races ballydoyle have won when legitisimo is clearly miles in front of the ballydoyle fillies, moore will get off saying she needs further
Report liggy0 June 28, 2015 4:39 PM BST
convinced he threw that race could deffo of got up, seemed to really close dead on line when pushed but he new other horse was obriens for sure.
Report wallis June 28, 2015 4:39 PM BST
At Ascot he knocked hell out of loads of horses to get out knowing full well he wouldnt get thrown out.  You cant get away with that so much in Ireland.

Why??  people are highlighting some poor rides by Moore.  At times he does look clueless.  For a so called top jockey he does have a high perecentage of poor rides.  John Murtagh in G1 races made very few mistakes

sooner they get rid of joseph the better i say, need a proper jockey like ryan moore on these hotpots ...
Report ashleigh June 28, 2015 4:41 PM BST
would be in for a whip ban in the uk for the thrashing of the filly.
Report track record June 28, 2015 4:41 PM BST
seemed pretty poor ride to me
Report kkell June 28, 2015 4:43 PM BST
another short price fav he managed to get beat on, along with at least 8 of them at royal ascot. the racing media dont mention that though to busy singing his praises
Report slip5 June 28, 2015 4:44 PM BST

Exactly so. It`s not an exact science. Watchman said she was very tired after the Oaks which was worrying.
Report Vubiant June 28, 2015 4:45 PM BST
Joseph is indeed clueless ...the best jockey in the world wood of one on that!
Report basilbrush June 28, 2015 4:45 PM BST
Silly ride on Legetissimo, needed to be closer to the pace, should still have won, another poor effort from Moore, but was the winner the plan all along for the same connections..?
Report enpassant June 28, 2015 4:49 PM BST
lost several races at the Curragh recently: funny thing is they look like replays of the same race; held up, boxed in run on don't get there.
Report Vubiant June 28, 2015 4:49 PM BST
Still great credit due to winner though -did it the hard way and never faltered when challenged on both sides. Game and gutsy filly who should be a jewel to breed from.
Report FELTFAIR June 28, 2015 4:54 PM BST
Dropped out last in the Guineas and swept past them all. That sparkle wasn`t there today. A rest is in order I`d say.Similar comments re the Bolger filly.

The Coolmore boys won't mind, another group one filly to add to the collection.

Moore doing the 'after you sir' to spread the joy.
Report MJK June 28, 2015 5:24 PM BST
Moore is the best jockey in the UK just like McCoy was when he wasn't riding against the top Irish jockeys. O'Brien said recently Moore was the best jockey he had ever seen(just like he says every year about one of his horses). Bearing in mind two really great jockeys Murtagh and Kinane have rode for him his statement is not only an insult to those two but to the intelligence of any racing fan.
Report TheCollector June 28, 2015 5:47 PM BST
Johnny Murtagh better than Ryan Moore 7 days out of 7

not sure I saw the pretty polly the same way as the sporting life.

2nd (6)    s.h    7 Legatissimo (IRE)    D Wachman    3    8-12    R L Moore    6/4f
Chased leaders in 4th, ridden 2f out, soon weakened Crazy
Report Vubiant June 28, 2015 6:31 PM BST
I wish people would realise that Moore is just another competent jockey among dozens of others .
He loses as many close finishes as he wins and finds as much trouble as any other.

Claims about 'best jockey' are fatuous - subjective claims about something that can't be tested or measured.
But of course he'll have another 20 favs to ride next week so if he should ride two or three winners in a short time span
the silly superlatives will be trotted out again.
Report Captain Christy June 28, 2015 6:33 PM BST
The fact that the top stables use him should tell you all you need to know.
Report Vubiant June 28, 2015 6:46 PM BST
Not really. They have to use someone and if a jockey has a meaningless title like 'champion jockey' attached to them they might as well go for him as well as anyone else and it depends on availability etc.
Meanwhile Heffernan and O'Donoghue continue to rack up the winners when they're given the chance...as would many others. It's not -and never can be- a level playing field with all jockeys being given identical ammunition to work with.
While racing is described as a sport-it's totally different in that the main performers involved -trainers and jockeys-are dependent on dumb animals co-operating with their efforts-with all the unpredictability that entails.

its good to see Frankie dettori off the drugs and alcohol for me he is the best jockey ever worldwide
Report geordie1956 June 28, 2015 7:01 PM BST
Frankie has been good and at times still is excellent but the best ever - no way

Laughwould you have Moore win on every horse to be best jockey? if he wins it'll be 'should have won anyway' if he loses it'll be 'should have won on that' Laugh

Funny how not a word was said about Smullen getting stuffed out of sight on the 8/13 favourite though, different story had it have been Moore.
Report slip5 June 28, 2015 7:12 PM BST

Report rmccarthy16 June 28, 2015 7:19 PM BST
how can it not be fit.... it run 9 days ago

I think the old adage about getting away with fast ground once but not twice when it needs a bit of cut came to mind with Forgotten Rules. Weld obviously thought it was a nice prize there for the taking so took a chance.
Report Ibrahima Sonko June 28, 2015 11:08 PM BST
Ryan is a  good jockey and miles better than his British opponents, in Ireland i think he meets a better standard, so his strength wont always win.

Also the Irish wont give him an inch like they would in the uk.

For him having a few stinkers at Ascot was about the law of averages, being on so many good horses this will be highlighted more than most, especially if you knocking in winners all week.

am sorry but for me he is the best ,and has been for some time ,some of the comments on this tread i find very funny ,he was kept in ,it's not a car he's driven plus he nearly beat the filly with the stick to try and win ,and he was a head a stride pass the line .This comes with been the coolmore number 1 ,people think just cause the bookies make everything fav he should win .That's just my opinion and as o brien said before .....sure we loose more than we win ,were used to getting beat
