True...had a few nightmares at Ascot too.
I still get queasy when I think of Kingfisher who imo should have won the Gold Cup. ![]() |

Yep, very frustrating indeed, as were some of his rides at Ascot. Still among the very best around at the moment along with a rejuvenated Dettori, and Smullen when at his best...just goes to show how bad the rest of the jockeys are when these three are at the top of the tree at present.

had a shocker yesterday too
By:
At present I would prefer Smullen/Dettori, but Moore is getting all the plum rides on the best horses, that much was evident at Royal Ascot, Moore is still losing on too many that should be winning to be considered a great or anything like.

Hahaha Legitisimo ..he done it again ! hilarious indeed.
By:
he really is poor jockey since after ascot
By:
love the way he wasnt allowed out

Yes the jock that held him in the poor position Moore got himself in finished last. The definition of madness "to repeat do the same thing and expect different results"
By:
as an onlooker,on a horse dropping back in trip shouldnt he have been up with pace not coming from behind, thats 2 races ballydoyle have won when legitisimo is clearly miles in front of the ballydoyle fillies, moore will get off saying she needs further
By:
convinced he threw that race could deffo of got up, seemed to really close dead on line when pushed but he new other horse was obriens for sure.
By:
At Ascot he knocked hell out of loads of horses to get out knowing full well he wouldnt get thrown out. You cant get away with that so much in Ireland.

would be in for a whip ban in the uk for the thrashing of the filly.
By:
seemed pretty poor ride to me
By:

By:
Joseph is indeed clueless ...the best jockey in the world wood of one on that!
By:
Silly ride on Legetissimo, needed to be closer to the pace, should still have won, another poor effort from Moore, but was the winner the plan all along for the same connections..?
By:
lost several races at the Curragh recently: funny thing is they look like replays of the same race; held up, boxed in run on don't get there.
By:
Still great credit due to winner though -did it the hard way and never faltered when challenged on both sides. Game and gutsy filly who should be a jewel to breed from.

Dropped out last in the Guineas and swept past them all. That sparkle wasn`t there today. A rest is in order I`d say.Similar comments re the Bolger filly.

The Coolmore boys won't mind, another group one filly to add to the collection.

Moore doing the 'after you sir' to spread the joy.

Moore is the best jockey in the UK just like McCoy was when he wasn't riding against the top Irish jockeys. O'Brien said recently Moore was the best jockey he had ever seen(just like he says every year about one of his horses). Bearing in mind two really great jockeys Murtagh and Kinane have rode for him his statement is not only an insult to those two but to the intelligence of any racing fan.
By:
Johnny Murtagh better than Ryan Moore 7 days out of 7
By:
Kinane, ffs

not sure I saw the pretty polly the same way as the sporting life.
2nd (6) s.h 7 Legatissimo (IRE) D Wachman 3 8-12 R L Moore 6/4f Chased leaders in 4th, ridden 2f out, soon weakened ![]() |
By:
I wish people would realise that Moore is just another competent jockey among dozens of others .
He loses as many close finishes as he wins and finds as much trouble as any other. Claims about 'best jockey' are fatuous - subjective claims about something that can't be tested or measured. But of course he'll have another 20 favs to ride next week so if he should ride two or three winners in a short time span the silly superlatives will be trotted out again. |
By:
The fact that the top stables use him should tell you all you need to know.
By:
Not really. They have to use someone and if a jockey has a meaningless title like 'champion jockey' attached to them they might as well go for him as well as anyone else and it depends on availability etc.
Meanwhile Heffernan and O'Donoghue continue to rack up the winners when they're given the chance...as would many others. It's not -and never can be- a level playing field with all jockeys being given identical ammunition to work with. While racing is described as a sport-it's totally different in that the main performers involved -trainers and jockeys-are dependent on dumb animals co-operating with their efforts-with all the unpredictability that entails. |

By:
its good to see Frankie dettori off the drugs and alcohol for me he is the best jockey ever worldwide
By:
Frankie has been good and at times still is excellent but the best ever - no way
By:
would you have Moore win on every horse to be best jockey? if he wins it'll be 'should have won anyway' if he loses it'll be 'should have won on that' ![]() |
By:
Funny how not a word was said about Smullen getting stuffed out of sight on the 8/13 favourite though, different story had it have been Moore.
By:
forgetton rules was not fit to run that is a different story

how can it not be fit.... it run 9 days ago
