...E.W. Bet    Mo Henry 17.15 Doncaster 16-1 generally (B365 4-1 feature race).

I thought my betting was going to simply center around the Northumberland Plate this week, but having perused today's cards last night I was drawn to Mo Henry, having had further time this morning to drill down in to the form of him and others I think 16-1 is far too big not to have a small interest.

He's not been overly raced for a 3yrold sprinter, with today being only his 6th lifetime start on turf. The handicapper may have been fairly generous in the fact he has dropped him 8lbs for his last three runs back after a break, the latest couple better than the bear form would indicate. His penultimate start was when 4th behind facile winner Scalzo, looking to settle well just in front of mid division and was doing some good late work at the conclusion to that contest, with horses just in front and behind him that day subsequently running well and winning. His latest start at Ripon, a course Imo he doesn't deal with the idiosyncrasies of, was also a good run Imo. There was some reasonably strong form going in to that contest for the grade, with the winner and runner up franking the form fairly well. Although Mo Henry was beaten fair and square that day, Imo he was probably doing to much to soon to safeguard his nice rails pitch, still holding a chance after being prominent passing the furlong pole he backed out of proceedings with nothing more to offer. The time was only two tenths of a second behind the earlier well assembled class 3 contest, and was only 1.6 secs slower than standard on ground described as G/soft, soft in places, that clock much better than plenty of his better fancied rivals efforts Lto by some way.

His last three contests have been class 4, two 0-85's and a 0-80. With that help from the assessor he is able to drop into this 0-70 class 5 contest, which looks a good bit of placing from his handler, who looks to be getting among the winners nicely as we progress into summer. Richard Whitaker has him in at Pontefract on Monday, but that a 0-75 classified event,  a win today would make him ineligible for that contest, but considering the two races this by far an easier opportunity to break his turf duck with head gear enlisted for the first time (cheek pieces). I personally think he 's worthy of going off a single figure considering those who oppose, so think 16-1 a decent E.W. poke on a fair flat track that should suit.
