OLD CLOSED RACECOURSES FROM THE FUTURE

I remember an awful lot going in the mid-60s and one or two after that till Teeside went in 1981 ( or thereabouts )but no more closed for 30 odd years. Two have actually opened this millenium,the first since the 1920s.

Seriously don't you think the Reubens bros are more interested in property development than racing and isn't Yarmouth aa obvious location for 100s of middle-class semis ?

I accept that the Reuben brothers are primarily property developers, but closing Yarmouth, they'd have to ask me first!

newbury might not be as bad a call as people may think,although not for the reason you say.

It's a bit tongue in cheek but as you say it wouldn't surprise me (and a few others!) if it aint there in 20 years.

the shareholders in newbury plc will have got a taste for the huge profits made from the housing project.

It already feels like the racing gets in the way of things - though the new 'management' may not be quite as clueless as the last lot!
