I remember an awful lot going in the mid-60s and one or two after that till Teeside went in 1981 ( or thereabouts )but no more closed for 30 odd years. Two have actually opened this millenium, the first since the 1920s.

hereford and folkestone have closed
Report salmon spray June 25, 2015 9:52 AM BST
Yep over 30 years since Teeside.

Have you taken out life insurance ?
You'd better listen to that nice Mr Parkinson.

Well, if it isn't Mr odds on!

I picked an 11-4 shot yesterday fyi.
It lost of course.
Report TheNorfolkMafia June 25, 2015 10:40 AM BST
Were you not feeling well?

Laugh
Report salmon spray June 25, 2015 10:47 AM BST
Not after it lost.
Seriously don't you think the Reubens bros are more interested in property development than racing and isn't Yarmouth aa obvious location for 100s of middle-class semis ?
Report TheNorfolkMafia June 25, 2015 10:58 AM BST
I accept that the Reuben brothers are primarily property developers, but closing Yarmouth, they'd have to ask me first!

Newbury - the new residents will no doubt soon complain about the inconvenience of the races taking place.......

spyker

newbury might not be as bad a call as people may think, although not for the reason you say.
Report spyker June 25, 2015 5:03 PM BST
It's a bit tongue in cheek but as you say it wouldn't surprise me (and a few others!) if it aint there in 20 years.
Report foxy June 25, 2015 5:11 PM BST
the shareholders in newbury plc will have got a taste for the huge profits made from the housing project.
Report spyker June 25, 2015 5:16 PM BST
It already feels like the racing gets in the way of things - though the new 'management' may not be quite as clueless as the last lot!
Report foxy June 25, 2015 5:27 PM BST
yes I agree with that things seemed to have pick up since the 2013 hennesy meeting.
