other than entry to the racecourse it is a very expensive trip paris is the most over rated city in the world, the racecourse itself is closing after the 2015 arc and rightly so,you would enjoy fontwells 2 day fixture that weekend much more.

Anywhere you want, in central Paris; contrary to the other view, on here, one of the best cities in the world.
Go to booking.com for a list of hotels.
Route to nearest metro, quite straightforward; Porte d'Auteuil (M10)
They put shuttle buses on from metro to racecourse: good job, really. Have seen it described as a 10 minute walk to Longchamp, which is just garbage. An Olympic athlete would struggle to run it, in 10.

As boingingbaggie says; doesn't really matter where you stay as the Metro is fast and frequent. The line to Auteuil goes through the Left Bank/St Germain, so you might want to stay around there as it's a nice area anyway, but it's easy to get there from elsewhere anyway. The buses run from Auteuil and are pretty well organised. It's definitely not a 10 minute walk!
If you did want to stay relatively nearby, then look at Porte Maillot. There are complimentary shuttle buses that go straight back to there after racing.
I love Paris personally, but tend to stay away from the touristy bits. There's an abundance of backstreet bars and restaurants where you can get fed and watered without breaking the bank. It's a great city for just walking around and exploring.

It's supposed to be closing for refurbishment, but it's already been delayed more than once. It was originally supposed to be after the 2012 Arc.
They've pencilled in Chantilly to host it in the interim, when it actually happens.

I'm finding it hard to get the Scottish ones in, they are the most difficult to get to as the promgramme never seems to combine them and Newcastle which would be nice .
