Moore makes plenty of mistakes, possibly just less than many of the jokers he is up against.
Broke two records this week.
One of them was losing on nine favourites (out of thirteen and let's face it anyone in the weighing room should have won on Gleneagles and Acapulco). That's the one the media will not mention because it might just bring a little balance to the Moore hysteria.

There's no need to overpraise or overblame Moore. He's a professional worker doing a job for which he served an apprenticeship, where he was taught the basics and gained experience. I expect him and other jockeys to come to work and do their job every day like a surgeon or a cabinet maker or anyone else. Not above making the odd error but generally competent at what they habitually do.

A surgeon saves lives a jockey loses people money and adds to the tax dodgers profits. a surgeon adds to society the world would be a better place without jockeys.joke comparing the 2

Hopefully Smullen will be on a lot of Stoute's going forward given Moore's new commitments. It is an absolute no-brainer. Hughes, Buick & Doyle are very good but you'd say Smullen, Moore and Dettori when he's right are another step ahead.

Doyle was disgraceful on that horse that drifted across the course at the finish. Most if not all of the better jockeys and plenty of the poor ones would have won on it.

In terms of jockeyship at Ascot, a few things became very clear. Moore is just about the best around at the moment, but Frankie Dettori and Pat Smullen are also riding extremely well and are currently at least Moores equal. Buick and Doyle are no great shakes, in fact both seem scared when riding, Im not sure either will improve much either as their problems appear to be in their heads. Of the old guard, Spencer was simply awful throughout Ascot, which is nothing new, while Hughes wasn't much better in winning a couple of races on the best horses. I actually thought Moore messed up on a few mounts, but he also wasted quite a few rides on Stoute horses that were clearly out of form. Moore, Dettori and Smullen looked head and shoulders above the rest at Royal Ascot, with Buick, Doyle, and Spencer being particularly disappointing.

A very fair assessment there BB - Honourable mention to George Baker who rode a winner and a 3rd from his 3 rides at the meeting and when it goes right Soumillon looks the part
