Glad to see everyone else in the same boat. I can't use Chrome either as I get the first shows in every race. 1.43! that has been happening for weeks.
Report onlooker June 18, 2015 6:33 PM BST
Betfair has NEVER be compatible with BETFAIR - and Betfair, themselves, admitted that YEARS ago - Advising people to use FIREFOX - before the even better compatible CHROME came out.

In fact - Internet Explorer is not that compatible with MANY sites. ... and is being BINNED By Microsoft.

Incidentally - what are you doing on version 8?  - you should be on version 10 ... BUT - whatever you do - do NOT upgrade Internet Explorer to the latest - and final - version 11 - it is awful.

windows 7 here onlooker Blush
Report koikeeper June 18, 2015 6:36 PM BST
7 here, tried 8 went back to 7 lol
Report onlooker June 18, 2015 6:40 PM BST
That's the one - pablo - the best, by far.

Read the other day that Windows 7 will be supported until 2020 - so no need to go to 10 in any great hurry.

Correction - MayoMan - I thought you meant Internet EXPLORER 8 - not Operating System 8 (unlucky, by the way)

I thought you meant the Browser 8 - as there was another thread - 'Can anyone help' - 30 minutes ago - complain about Internet Explorer crashing.

Come to think of it - it may STILL be your Browser, though - especially if you are using Internet Explorer
Report jerseyboy June 18, 2015 6:42 PM BST
thought I was the only one crashing every other minute.
Report onlooker June 18, 2015 6:42 PM BST

I am on Windows 7 and still had the same problem for the last 3 days. I assume they are overloaded with Ascot plus all the other sport on this week.

Report sparrow June 20, 2015 3:38 PM BST
Try Firefox. I have no problems with it.
Report 11kv June 20, 2015 3:43 PM BST
Ok will do thanks
Report onlooker June 20, 2015 3:49 PM BST
As I posted above - 11kv -

Microsoft are DITCHING Internet Explorer - NO further releases/Versions -
- and, eventually, it will NOT be supported with Security Updates.
Report 11kv June 20, 2015 3:51 PM BST
Thanks Onlooker,so I assume the latest update has caused this and there's no going back..?
Report roida June 20, 2015 4:15 PM BST
so which browser will microsoft be endorsing?
Report sageform June 20, 2015 4:17 PM BST
Firefox has crashed twice today when I was on Betfair. At least they had the decency to apologise.
Report Brave dancer June 20, 2015 4:51 PM BST
I'm using Firefox on Linux and have crashed maybe twice in the last 14 years on here...Devil
Report sageform June 20, 2015 4:53 PM BST
You do wonder if the problem is overload on Betfair.
Report onlooker June 20, 2015 6:04 PM BST
roida -

Windows 10 (Operating System)  is being supplied with a Microsoft replacement Browser called  Edge - but under the codename 'Project Spartan'

But, of course - all the bugs that go with anything new, on the Web, will need to be ironed out, first.

Thanks Onlooker,so I assume the latest update has caused this and there's no going back..?
-----------

Internet Explorer 11 (the latest) is very buggy

The previous version is far more reliable, and compatible.

You can Download it from here ...

http://filehippo.com/download_internet_explorer_windows_7/14434/

it will automatically overwrite Internet Explorer 11

However - in any future Windows Updates - you will need to UNcheck Windows 11 (which will be offered to you again) before Installing those Updates.
Report 11kv June 21, 2015 1:17 PM BST
Right just done all back to normal

Thanks Onlooker I owe you one........
Report Greenacres June 21, 2015 7:03 PM BST
Hi, could all the above be the cause of my own IT problems which occur on the Betfair site alone?  Very regularly when on Betfair a box pops up telling me that Internet Explorer has stopped working and will be closing the programme - it immediately freezes and prevents any further use until I reboot from scratch: after a few minutes it happens again.
Any advice from a knowledgeable techie would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance.
Report MC Roller June 21, 2015 7:41 PM BST
I hate IE11, keep getting, this page cannot be displayed on certain websites, pile of crap. I'll try that download onlooker, thank you.

Oh, sorry to be a pain onlooker, there's one other annoying problem in win 8.1, and that is stuttering flash player video. On random occasions it will stutter for one second then continue normally. There's a thread going about this issue since November 2014 on the adobe community. There's still no fix, unbelievable. Adobe don't give a monkeys.

Any ideas?
Report onlooker June 21, 2015 7:42 PM BST
Greenacres - As I have posted on many similar threads, over many years, on this Forum

BETFAIR is NOT entirely compatible with Internet Explorer ... it is something to do with the Code/Software that Betfair have used

BETFAIR THEMSELVES - several years ago - both admitted, and advised, as such - and recommended that users use Firefox.

That was, even, before CHROME Browser appeared on the screen - Chrome being equally as compatible as Firefox.

Internet Explorer is now ancient by comparison - and as I have posted above is being DISCONTINUED by Microsoft.

By all means use Internet Explorer for other sites, if you are comfortable with it - although, as I have again posted above, Version 10 - rather than the latest and FINAL (clunky) version 11 - is much more compatible with most sites.

But better to use either FIREFOX or CHROME for BETFAIR.
Report Greenacres June 21, 2015 7:57 PM BST
Onlooker - many thanks indeed. Not being particularly computer literate I will take my problem to a friend who is and show him your kind reply - sure he will be able to act upon it. The pop-up did cost me this afternoon - appeared just as I was about to place a bet and by the time I rebooted the race was off and the price gone: needless to say, Sod's Law dictated the outcome....thanks again, much appreciated.
Report onlooker June 21, 2015 8:01 PM BST
MC Roller - Sorry - I cannot be of help with that issue - as I use Windows 7
- which is the best ever version of Windows, by far.

Perhaps it could be a Windows 8 compatibility issue, as opposed to just Adobe's baby.
Report homefortea June 21, 2015 8:03 PM BST
Betfair is not compatible with anything..

Seems to me that they have taken their eye off the ball..

They have no competition and boy does it show...
Report sparrow June 21, 2015 8:07 PM BST
I use 8.1 and have no problems with the flash player. Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling it?
Report BARROWBOY June 22, 2015 11:57 AM BST
on a different tack anyone know why sky go is no longer compatible with google chrome, had to dust off IE yesterday to watch the golf.
Report sparrow June 22, 2015 1:31 PM BST
Surprises me how many people on here use IE.
Report kevinglass June 22, 2015 1:37 PM BST
Very useful info. Just dowloaded Firefox, and it's much better than IE, which was going down all the time when I had Betfair on.

Best tip I've ever had on here!
