Just thought I would share some light on the the Aussie runners at Ascot, the first of which goes around in the Kings Stand Stakes, a race which has had several Australia sprinters win the race

Shamal Wind, winner of the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate personally I think it was a very poor field and I don't think she has too much of a chance in this, she is well under the odds for mine, if she was to win this it would be a big shock as I don't rate her a genuine group 1 horse, in saying that though we do have some strong sprinters in Australia and historically we've done well in these sort of races, interesting that Ryan Moore has the ride, he's one of the better riders in the UK so she will get every chance to take it out if she's good enough.

Criterion, a very very promising middle distance horse on the rise. He too has only won 1 Group 1 race to date but he's been very competitive behind some decent rivals at distances which I don't believe suit him the best. His best effort was his last performance when beating Red Cadeaux by 2.5L running away with every stride, he's currently a decent price in a race with many chances. I definitely think he's a contender in that sort of race.

Wandjina, I just can't see him beating Brazen Beau all things being even. I have no doubt he'll see out the undulating track as his best form is over further but I simply rate Brazen Beau a superior horse.

Brazen Beau, easily the best hope of our runners this year. Already a 2 time Group 1 winner, with plenty more to come I feel (unless connections decide to send him to the breeding barn). This is the ideal distance and he beat Lankan Rupee convincingly in his last outing which was the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap, it was a handicap and he's rather unexposed so you can't take too much from that but he won it with ease, too much ease for my liking.

I could be wrong with my opinions on Australian runners this year but I am confident I am fairly accurate.

I would be happy to see any of them win as I think it's great we are sending our horses overseas despite the fact that prize money on offer is inferior (not trying to ruffle feathers, that's just the way it is). Good luck if you bet.
