.... E.W. Bet Ted's Brother 16.50 Doncaster 8-1 generally (use BOG)
Having banged on yesterday about Saturday the best day to seek out a betting opportunity I've decided to also have an investment today, I do stand by that statement but I'm convinced that the amatuer race Kalk Bay finished 2nd in 15 days ago will still throw up a winner or two more or at least some good performances, given the right circumstances of course. Obviously that statement cemented by the fact Kalk Bay won, Breakable also again getting his head in front and Dr Redeye also not beaten that far when 4th in his race yesterday.
Today could well be ideal circumstances for Teds' Brother to come to the fore, who had been well fancied to take that prize with crack amatuer on board Simon Walker. Having been tardily away in that race Ted's Brother did fairly well to finish where he did, especially if you consider the first three home where all nicely positioned throughout that contest stalking the pace fairly close up at the head of affairs. Ted's Brother along with another subsequent easy scorer Naosie where the ones that finished off there race particularly well, but York not the easiest track to come from an uncompromising positions and win, especially when it was no more than an average gallop over that 7F contest. It was a similar story in his previous start at Nottingham under Rob Hornbys handling, where he should have at least finished in the money with a better judged ride, doing all of his best work in the conclusion to that mile event.
Ted's Brother seems to run well at Doncaster, with 4 of his lifetime wins coming over today's mile trip or a stiff 7F. He also seems to perform well in his contests from this time of the year, with form from mid June breaking into early July reading 1-2-7-2-1-4-4-1, with plenty of wins coming on top of the ground. The lad on board Connor Beasley has done very well for the stable, and overall is operating at a 20% strike rate ( one the highest of anyone riding for the stable from a large pool of runners), but despite the fact Connor has ridden out his claim his 7 rides for the yard this year have produced 3 winners to operate at 43% winning strike rate and a nice £10.50p profit to level stakes at ISP. Having missed the 10's last night I'd still consider taking anything over 7-1 which I feel could be value enough given the fact he's been given further respite from the assessor and now races off just 66.
