he really should be doing better considering all the backing and resources he has
Report hello :-) June 7, 2015 2:38 PM BST
I hope not , the game needs top class trainers
Report foxy June 7, 2015 2:39 PM BST
he may well have a horse that won a handicap yesterday capable of winning group ones.

Report foxy June 7, 2015 3:00 PM BST
stravagante ?
Report conkian June 7, 2015 3:01 PM BST
handicap ?
Report foxy June 7, 2015 3:13 PM BST
same handicap in 2008 at sandown where stravagante was 3rd of 85 he had the 3rd that day of 79,yesterday stravagante won the same Epsom handicap of 89 in 2008 the horse that was third in that same sandown race won the Epsom race of 85,he then went on to win the st leger the king George and two breeders cups,he also finished fourth to see the stars in paris.

not bad for a handicapper.

At what stage has it been decided he has decline as a trainer to then be looking at retiring, considering he won 11 group races last season?

He might well have the backing of owners like Khalid Abdullah (although he cut his numbers back), Ballymacoll, Cheveley Park, Hamdan, Highclere, Saeed Suhail, Sir Evelyn De Rothschild, The Queen and James Wigan but it's not exclusively to him and so do plenty of other trainers, so you can't always be sure who gets the best ones but he's still won big races for all of those owners recently if the horses have been good enough and I doubt it's been a case of him forgetting what to do though.

At the end of the day there are only so many good horses to go around. At the moment Coolmore have got Galileo and some other top stallions which is why they have led in the last few years.
Sir Michael may not always have the ammo he has had in the past but is still a top trainer.
