You've got to laugh at those on here saying when he first came back and was scratching around for rides at the gaff tracks that he was gone at the game and over the hill.
Have I mentioned before it's more about the horses than the jockeys and if you don't get on the better ones you tend not to win the better races? And what's that saying again about form and class?
William Buick must be feeling sick too.

To put the importance of the race in perspective, Gosden won more prize money for first and second there than all of his other wins and places this year. Now very short odds to be champion trainer.

koikeeper 06 Jun 15 16:40 TBF, anyone would have won on that.
Which kind of proves that it's more about the horses than the jockeys.
I've never really liked him as he's far too cocky and conceited but it would be churlish to not give credit where it's due, when he was and still is a top class jockey who once again has landed on his feet when a decent job offer came along and when Buick took the Godolphin job.

C4; "Frankie has come though adversity, personal problems etc".
Why can't they just say he's a proven coke head with 15 years between each incident,PC gone mad.

First 2 are probably of a good standard but the rest were not up to much. However, the winner is by Cape Cross like Sea The Stars was and he may also remain unbeaten.

Of course it is jamesdean, just as it was about Frankie when plenty were saying those umpteen months ago that he was gone at the game because he was riding poor horses.
Maybe your aim should be at those er, attention seekers who can't wait to jump on here and start a thread to slate jockeys as soon as they get beaten on one, purely because they don't seem to get that if the horse isn't good enough and they are riding a poor one, then it's probably not going to win and make that jockey look a world beater.
Just a thought eh?

Much prefer Frankie ,just for the public profile.Moore in the same situation would probably mourn not winning the Oaks as well, brilliant jockey though he is ,he really does little to elevate the sport from the racing pages.

Moore in the same situation would have focused on the performance/talent of the horse during the interview. Frankie basically performed fallacio to himself and the camera. Fair play if you can get yourself into tat position
Any way, this horse has a Sea the Stars about him. No 2000G but lets see him meet that lot in the Eclipse.

Frankie Dettori is unashamedly....Frankie Dettori. He is excitable and he is ebullient. This is part of the persona.
As for his post race performance yesterday, we don't know what has been happening behind the scenes, we don't know what pressures there have been on Gosden, or even Oppenheimer himself over the riding arrangements. We also don't know what people in the industry may have said to Dettori. All this is speculation, but what is not speculation is that while a good horse can win the Derby, the horse also needs a good jockey.
As for the reference to BG etc, well what can one expect from the level of commentator we have today?

In the interview with Clare Balding before the Derby he was talking about his plane crash. He mentioned how he thought he was going to die, how frightened he was, and how his friend Ray Cochrane had saved him. I was waiting for him to acknowledge the tragedy of the pilot's death, but he went on to say something like "it took me two years to get over that." It was Clare who had to mention the pilot.

I saw that interview and thought it was very poor of him not to mention the poor pilot.
back to yesterday it was nice to see rider and connections enjoying winning the derby.
