if you watch it again , after he gives the horse a crack of the whip  , not only does the horse hang slightly , but the horse actually tries to stop running for a stride , which makes it look like kelly stops riding

I did notice the horse hanging but I think he just relaxed for a second perhaps thinking he may be clear in third? As he seen the horse coming up on the outside he started riding again, I'm not slagging him as such just think that maybe he made an error of judgement - I needed it placed really so probably is my pocket talking a little! ha
