In view of tomorrows gale force winds forecast for tomorrow will it be on? If it is will it be worthwhile enduring the conditions? I went on May 5th when it managed to survive the 40+ mph winds. I did not bother the next day when it was abandoned after the 2nd race. Last Friday there was a deluge just as I got off the bus from the station and I was soaked by the time I got in.
Pause Switch to Standard View Brighton Tuesday...will it be on?

Plumpton give out information on the state of the ground and the weather forecast. Brighton keep quiet. Very few there for Gentleman's Day on Friday were dressed for the weather.

When was that mange? I first went there around 1955 when Scobie used to ride it so close to the rail that the paint would be on his boot.

Charlie was one of my favourites. After a dreadful Saturday at Windsor he got my holiday money back for me in a Seller at Lewes on the Monday.
God knows what this Forum would have made off him.
Your Gran must have strengthened your legs walking you up there.

About four years ago I walked from the town over the Downs up to the course to see what had been done to it.
In the days I went racing there I took the bus. I had forgotten how far it was. I have a picture I took of my wife sitting at the course probably in 1957.

Sorry - Oldgit1 -

But I could not bring myself to attend that awful for Form, and punting track - on even the most glorious summer day.

I'm in Eastbourne it is wet and very windy and such poor visibility that I can't see the South Downs from about a mile away.

Surprising how far people travel to go there. Two regulars travel down from Bedford as their is a direct train service.

Any chance of it being abandoned today guys?
Report koikeeper June 2, 2015 1:38 PM BST
The low cloud seemingly has given in to the wind as we can see the whole straight now. The wind is not for letting up though and remains a concern.

After an inspection racing goes ahead with Richard Westropp reporting: "The jockeys are happy to go ahead and it is not as bad as the last meeting when it was abandoned as the wind was much more gusting and stronger."
Mark Brisbourne went out with the inspection team and added: "I have seen worse and better! The worst point is turning into the straight when it is across them and it will be blowing them to the stands side as well so they will be coming across!"

Heard in the background on the LV feed, "If we get to the fourth race, I'll be amazed!" (female voice)

Looking at the Ring there seemed to be few Bookies on the pitches on the Rails and only two screens seemed to be lit up. I could only see about four pitches in Tatts.
